Even Today, the B-52H bomber is still in use and requires about an hour of preparation, including safety checks, before it can take to the skies. However, the Air Force also devised the Cart Start method as a contingency plan to accelerate the process. This technique involves ground crews inserting small explosive charges into two of the eight engines, which initiates the engine's movement. By utilizing Cart Start, a B-52 can be ready for takeoff in less than ten minutes, providing crucial time to avoid potential destruction on the ground.

I doubt the cartridges used to start those engines are explosives. They are probably smokeless powder, similar to that used in firearms, which is not an explosive but is a propellant. It is a small distinction, I suppose, but a propellant burns at a slower rate than an explosive.
