Janis definitely would have gone on to be at the top along with Carly Simon, Carol King, and many others. It's such a sad loss. We always wonder where they'd be...Thank you for your time, Mark. God bless you and thank you John for such a interview. Looking forward to more with Mark...Isn't It Amazing!

Fun fact: Janis Joplin's favourite GFR song was "I Don't Have to Sing the Blues" from the Closer to Home LP

Love you show, big fan of Mark Farner and was a fan of the real GFR!
You have, like Mark, very important musicians from an very important era. There aren’t many left that knew Janis Joplin and other great musicians that are gone. Their stories are important and you sir have the perfect show for them to tell their stories. I thank you and I thank your guests! I look forward to seeing many more!!!

Definitely a Legend in his own life and still Making some of the Best Country Music ever, , , his lyrics are straight from the Heart and nothing like today’s Commercial written Lyrics and pop Country music if that’s even what they claim it to be, , , , SOME REALLY DECENT COUNTRY SONGS OUT THERE TODAY BUT NOTHING MUCH WRITTEN FROM THE HRART AND MAKES YOUR OWN HEART FEEL IT LIKE KRIS OR WILLIE OR WAYLON OR CASH OR GEORGE JONES or HANK WILLIAMS OR Merle haggard Elvis & Kenny Rogers or Dolly Parton the Judds there’s Nothing out Today near the Caliber of the singer’s and the Music they wrote back then I still listen to them all any chance I get, , , , you Can’t Replace their Music and lyrics & originality and Voices of the Past Super Stars of Country music and even the Caliber of the people that they were like back in the better times not really so long ago, , , , Its sad how the music has Became sooo Commercial and the not so personal heart and Soul that used to be written right into the old school country music, , , some of today’s music is fairly good, , , Jason Aldean is A very close Second compared to the past music & I believe that he is Definitely in tune with yesteryears Music and the heart and soul that goes into a Great Song and there’s a few that try to Carry on tradition from the Greats from back when Country was Real Country, , , , But Kris Kristofferson is definitely in the One of the Best alive or dead (Club ) he just poses the Raw sounds that makes the Song feel just right and it comes to him Naturally and Easily, , , he doesn’t even have to try to sound Good because on his worst day he still has the Gift

I didn't know Mark lost a son. My deepest condolences to you and your family. Years ago i watched the YT video of the dick cavett show with Janice and her band. I was totally impressed with how well spoken she was. Really a great show...im sure its still out here.

She is so missed. I have never seen her giving less than 110% in her performances. Not sure how sustainable that could be in the long run.

Same with the great Mark; I also knew that he had a son with health concerns and that he was supporting him unconditionally but didn’t know he had died. May he RIP.

i saw janis at the new orleans pop festival in 1969. she came on at 10:00pm and sang her heart out till midnight. what a show! she drank a whole bottle of southern
comfort in that 2 hours. listening to her was like standing in a hurricane - extremely intense. there will never be another janis, she was once in a lifetime.

I wished Mark and Janis got together romantically. They would have made such a 'cute couple". He might have even made an honest woman out of her and saved her from killing herself
