Marvel Legends Groot and Drax Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Hasbro

I was originally going to pass on the Hasbro Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Drax and Groot but Star-Lord and Yondu got me too excited. Plus how much GotG stuff is dropping on us all at once? I can't take the pressure, I'm weak, I had to get them! But it worked out, I do like them. For what they are.

Back when I was a Junior in college when I worked a little for Hasbro, one of my early projects was the first pass digital deco colors for Drax, Gamora, and Star Lord. This was before anyone knew what the characters looked like, and I was handed really crappy water-marked to death print-outs of the actors in makeup immediately outside of the makeup trailer on set. I think my work was used for approvals before someone else took over. I'm not sure, I had to get the pantone color numbers and everything. Was pretty neat!

Picked up Groot today and went over Drax yesterday myself. For me, it was the first time around with both so I dug the Drax mold, but I have to say his hands--and you covered this--and elbow joints felt soft. I fear breakage. And man, yeah, getting it into his hands--whoa! No way. I'll go with just the knives on my shelf. Love his head, good looking Batista! Haven't played around with Groot yet, but looking forward to it! Great reviews, man!

I'm not a huge fan of Guardians of the Galaxy... but I do like Groot... especially Baby Groot... I think I may just have to drop by my local Toys R Us & grab one... provided they release it here in Australia...

Fantastic photos. A little disappointed that the Drax heads can't be switched. Always hated how the original had the red Ravager pants while every other figure had their beginning outfits. Maybe I could swap the entire torso, but I don't know how difficult that would be and if it'd be worth the trouble.

Love the new Groot head and accessories, just wish the new parts had a sharper sculpt. The new head's softness stands out against the body imo.

Funny how I was originally going to pass on all the previously released characters from the first film, but now I'm considering picking them all up and just building a Vol 2 team.

Yeh I double dipped on the groot too. It was just too cool of a figure to pass on. I'll definitely be getting the Drax too. Waiting patiently for the next wave

Yeah I definitely prefer the Vol. 2 Drax over the first too. I got them at the same time since Targets seem to be getting Vol.1 figures again. So I only bought the first Drax for the build a figure part and then left him in the package.

I got the whole wave and love them... I am debating on getting the old Drax for the head... I missed out on the old wave

Sweet review Robo! Yeah I do agree with you on the screaming/yelling heads. I'm not a fan of them unless there's an alternate head or it fits the character. For Drax it definetly does. I was excited for Groot but the eyes really kills it for me because they look so creepy! I may not have seen all of your videos but I'm sure your old reviews aren't that bad. Shoot I've been with you since you uploaded the R2-D2 and R5-D4 Bandai kit and I liked that video so much I thought, "Whoa... this guy is awesome at reviewing toys! I'll be watching his videos for sure!" and I've been watching a lot of your Star Wars, Marvel and DC action figure reviews ever since, always enjoying your little puns about how money is your enemy and you just want to get rid of it all, and I also like to talk to you about toys and just discuss our opinions about them... where was I going with this? How do you feel about Mantis being the baf for wave 2? It bugs me to have to get three more figures that I didn't want just to complete her and the team, but I'm actually looking forward now to Death's Head 2 and Ex Nihilo. They look cool. Still wish Hasbro weren't forcing us to dish out extra cash though😒

did you notice the new civil war wave with war machine and Scarlett Witch? kinda surprised me when I saw them at toys r us cause I never knew or heard about it.

The Groot retails at 20 bucks… The Groot from 2 years ago was a build a figure with a crap wave with Nova being the best one. This Groot has paint which gives it personality, the other was lifeless. Kinda make you think how cheap the idea of a build a figure is with Hasbro. They make 3 to 4 throw away and 1 or 2 get subpar and sometimes you get a great figure like Angela thats worth the price tag. Groot is a steal at 20 bucks! Beware of the Build a Wing Idea! lol don’t drink the kool-aide people!
