Fun fact: Hooli is the pronunciation of "fox" in Chinese, although they spell it as "Huli". And in China, much like the West, the animal fox represents the quality of being clever, cunning, resourceful and sly, but in a bad way, which means a fox can never be trusted (just like the saying in the West "sly as a fox"). In Chinese folklore some even see fox as some kind of demi-god that possesses magical power such as shape-shifting, invisibility, etc. And if you think about the personality and behavior of Gavin Belson in this show, he is like the personification of all those qualities aforementioned, makes me wonder if the producer drew inspiration from the Chinese fox tales, just like how the real-life streaming company Hulu drew its name from the Chinese name of the plant calabash, haha

The guy is so pretentious. He can’t just admit he can’t deliver and just try smaller. Hooli was just an overinflated dumpster fire that kept squandering it’s money on projects that didn’t work. How it ever got so big is a miracle. This likes to act like he’s some once in a generation prodigy, but he can’t even the bare minimum. Even after this downsizing he still refuses to be humbled. He’d rather be big and a failure rather than small and successful. His ego just won’t won’t let him give up this tech giant ceo image he has of himself
