Walk-Through of the DEC Vari-ND Genius Adapter

Показать описание
The DEC Vari-ND is the ultimate genius adapter.

1. It lets you adapt your Canon EF lenses to Micro Four Thirds or E-Mount cameras (it comes in 2 versions).
2. It is a wireless follow-focus with the included grip handle.
3. It is a wireless aperture adjuster.
4. It is a remote trigger, allowing you to start/stop recording wirelessly.
5. It has a liquid crystal variable ND included, allowing you to wirelessly adjust from ND8 to ND2048, which is 8 stops of ND. It also comes with a clear filter, in case you don't want that ND element.

Unlike previous DEC models, the VariND also allows you to control both ND and aperture from the adapter itself, without needing the hand grip.

One charge of the hand grip will work for over a week while the adapter will work 4 hours continuously OR can be simultaneously charged for unlimited hours of use.

The VariND is constructed out of heavy-duty aluminum and brass.

Is there going to be a version with speedbooster? Having build-in variable ND-filter and speedbooster whit remote (smooth) focus pulling would be the best thing ever happened to planet earth (that statement was little overkill but it would be sweet).

This is genius. Just purchased one but I cant get the Lanc to Start and stop recording using the Gh5. Hopefully I can find the answer #UPDATE In order for the Lanc connection to work in the Gh5 you need to turn the (Video Button off ) in the Gh5 Operation menu.

Does the Vari-ND have an IR Cut Filter built in to prevent IR contamination with the BMPCC ?

Can it adjust ND and Aperture simultaneously while maintaining the same brightness (with a single control), to do an Aperture Pull?

A lot of manual lenses fit on a Canon EF mount that need no electronic contacts (since they have their own aperture rings).

So I really hope that there will be a cheaper, simpler version without aperture control.

can you still operate the iris and front the camera with out the wireless and controller,
say you just need it as a adapter one day, and the next you need it as a follow focus

Hey, Aputure; how do you choose which YT Filmmaker gets your wicked cool gear? I've always wondered this :)

This adaptor is useless do not buy it! It shouldn't even really be called an adaptor because it retains none of the lens functionality (not even autofocus) and you have to carry around this ridiculous remote the whole time to change the aperture and focus. I returned this to the seller immediately and bought a Sigma MC-11 which works perfectly

Brilliant idea, but still needs some work. Would love to see power and communication between the camera. This would allow things like stabilization, changing aperture from the camera and autofocus. 4 hours of battery life is pretty mediocre and charging via usb is very impractical, so it would be nice if it could be powered by the camera. Would also potentially like to see a more affordable version without the receiver and remote. It’s quite a bulky setup and I, like most people I assume, mostly have no need for the remote. But speaking of the remote, I think it would be awesome if you had a version that has a focus wheel instead of a toggle. But yeah, those are my thoughts.
