I spent six months on this island back in my Air Force days. Wasn’t nothing going on there but fresh tuna fishing and swimming during the day, clubbing at night, chickens running free everywhere, Filipinos keeping us fed, and getting cheeks from the Navy chicks that rotated in and out often. This is so stupid. I was stationed on that island and it was the most boring tour of duty I ever had. It’s just a resupply point for Navy ships going from Asia to the Middle East and/or vice-versa. There’s no CIA there. There’s a bunch of Filipino contractors who are in charge of all the utilities like electricity and running water. They also run the few restaurants and stores, conduct refueling operations, and process paperwork for passengers arriving or leaving the island. None of those contractors even have security clearances. The food is all brought in by a commercial ship run by ordinary civilians. There’s a saying that DG turns you into a drunk, a chunk (from getting lazy and eating a lot), or a hunk (from working out). Every couple of weeks, some random conspiracy theorist calls the dispatcher saying demanding that we close down CIA black sites or that we release the MH370 wreckage. That island is literally too small to have facilities that allow for either of those things. The hangars can’t fit an airliner. I actually wished that some part of the conspiracy theories was true because I really felt useless being there. There was usually a ship stopping by every week but you would go days without one. The highlight of my day was feeding one of the donkeys that roamed the island. We named him Clyde. Yup, feeding spicy Cheetos to a donkey was the highlight of my day. I’ll admit there was also some beautiful looking water though.
