Moneymaker stuff aside, it is insane how the first thing you read on a topic can effect your mind on something, I’m not really into poker and I don’t understand it well, but my first look into moneymaker was a video by emplemon on that run. In that video it doesn’t really talk much on him being a bad person and more on the sheer luck and insanity it took for him to win, then I see the comments to this video and is super confused, crazy how much the internet can change your perspective

I remember, this is like twenty years ago, I was playing 2/4 hold ‘em. I get pocket tens. After the flop I have four-of-a-kind. I’m thinking, I have the nut. Can’t lose, right? At the river it’s now heads-up. Normally only four raises are allowed but at heads-up…. We go all in. It never even occurred to me that he could have a straight flush. I lost everything. I was never angry, I was just in shock. And we’re only playing for a couple hundred. These guys…. And I don’t know how in the hell anyone plays No Limit.

The thing about Royal Flushes is that they are not only incredibly rare but the board makes it also highly unlikely for your opponent to have anything else but bluff catchers to call high bets with. Even with a set its tough to call with straights and flushes out there. And what are the odds of a boat vs royal flush? So as exciting as it is, the action is mostly pretty boring or in all in situations like these clips. That being said... Having a royal flush is effing sick 😂

Any straight flush holding two cards is equally rare mathematically. One could even say that lower straight flushes are rarer. Because lower cards are played less frequently, given raises that see them fold.

I've never had a royal flush. I've gotten several 4 of a kinds over the years and one moment I'll always remember was playing with some friends in college and getting smoked by four of a kind, when I had a full house, of which I delt that round after rock paper scissors. I had three kings and two 10s, my opponent had four 3s and won the whole pot. Brutal
