I don’t know why but the heroic albeit futile struggle of the fully human Tzar Guard to stop the demonic empowered Aspiring Champions seemed incredibly epic to me.

They got defeated but they took 9 champions with them!

Many people complain about how Aspiring champions are weak, but I belive the main problem is because they were balanced with campaing (where they become the best infantry unit in the game with all the tech tree and lord's red line's buffs) in mind, and not multiplayer or custom battles.

That tzar guard fending off 3 inspiring champions by himself was a trooper

To me champs dont have enough weapon strength for the number of models

They shoud really give Aspiring Champions AP and either a aura buff to increase their support capability or more defensive stats to ancre a fight (hp/def)

Iirc you can get aspiring champions almost right away with warriors of chaos so it's pretty bonkers that they can deal with elite infantry like that

Testing elite units against chaff would be interesting. Like wich cheap units are trade worthy
