I think after seeing the glorified Chinese EV advertisement today, this all starts to make a lot more sense.

Corporations ruin everything they touch. A bunch of out of touch MBA's thinking they're the masters of the universe.

About a month ago, I realized that Donut has become more of a commercial than automotive content.

4:26 YES, literally the thing that came to mind. Jobe working on the Miata in his garage is my favorite Donut content, and I too don't have a Miata. Jobe and Jeremiah are easy to watch without gimmicks because they're smart, entertaining, and relatable.

Moral of the story, support your friends, family and small business

Its kind of lost its soul. Up to speed, science garage, and even D list, they built the channel and you could feel a connection to the channel and videos. And then it kind of changed later and turned into a generic whatever channel

They basically turned into car buzzfeed.

Over in the UK We had Car Throttle bought out a few years ago and they put so much strain on the main YT guys they have all now left and started their own channels and are now collabing on their own terms and putting out some of their best content. How these big media companies still don't get that if you screw over the faces of your channel they will leave and can succeed without you is beyond me

I do appreciate Donut being classy about it. There is room in my heart for more than just one car channel. I actually subscribe to a ton of car channels that I found because of them being featured on Donut or James and Nolan giving shout-outs on the podcasts.

Donut Media was acquired by Recurrent Ventures on Nov 9, 2021 .

Started watching Donut because of B2B and the car science stuff. Loved Money Pit and High/Low...sure does seem over the last 2 years Donut has become more Tik Tok and less actual car stuff.

James left a while ago and they just ran out his last videos.
He's not in any recent content and unfollowed everything to do with Donut on social media.
Sounds like Donut wanted to get ahead of the two boys leaving, learning a bit from what happened with James and with Hoonigan.

I still remember my first donut media video is "everything you need to know - AE86"

4:23 I just want to say, when they got the Ranger I was super excited, but every video was some mega-expenseve upgrade and I don't think I watched a single episode. I was expecting some kind of "everyman" build, not what a silicon valley bro would do.

I feel like this same corportisation is what drove matt and tommy leaving WTF1 to create their own channel

I am excited for the new channel. Sad to see Donut falling off, but excited to see two guys building and creating stuff they want to.

I think you guys are filling a hole in the YouTube car community. Love the content.

Welcome back, to pretty much the best automotive podcast I’ve ever seen!

The biggest question - is James still in Donut?

MCM commenting "It is time" in BigTime was a huge thing for me; Marty and Moog were my first "automotive" YT channel I subbed to a decade ago.
