Bringing powerful CAD Gear Creation to blender with the Precision Gears addon.

Precision gears brings powerful CAD Gear Creation to blender. It let's you make "almost" any gear inside of blender and rig it together for animation plus it's all as parametric as it can be. For blender 3.5. Be it for laser cutting, 3D printing or some amazing mech model you can now get real-world accurate Involute gears in blender. These include but are not limited too; Rack Gear, Spur Gear, Bevel Gear, Crown Gear, GT2 Blet Gears & Worm Gear. Dive deep into the possibilities of precision modelling in blender 3.5.

Tooth count x Module = Diameter of the pitch circle

Ring Gear Tooth Count = (2 x Planet Gears tooth count) + Sun Gear tooth count

Given:
N1 = Number of teeth on gear 1
N2 = Number of teeth on gear 2
α = Angle of transmission (in degrees)
You can calculate the pitch angle (β) for each gear using these formulas:

For Gear 1:
β1 = arctan[(N1/N2) * tan(α)]

For Gear 2:
β2 = α - β1

Remember that "arctan" is the inverse tangent function and "tan" is the tangent function, which you can compute with a scientific calculator.

These formulas take into account the transmission angle and the number of teeth on each gear to determine the appropriate pitch angle for each gear in the pair. Remember to ensure that all angles are in the same units (either all in degrees or all in radians) when performing the calculations.

This is huge! I can’t even image the amount of time and work it took to build this. Thank you for creating such an amazing tool!

I am at the beginning of this video, but I have to tell you, that I use the free version nearly every day. It is absolutely the standard for blender. I will buy the full add-on soon and looking forward for the rigging!

OMG your precision gears brought back my school days (40-45 yeats ago) of technical drawing and engineering of gears. Very well done. Your plugin is a teaching aid for gears. Absolutely awesome

I'm overwhelmed. Very cool. Are you planning any gear projects?

This addon is practically perfect. 👏👏👏

OMG, this is amazing. Not just from an animation standpoint but I have been struggling to do this for my miniatures. Never mind them working, that is an added bonus.

Thing that I didn't expect from blender but I really need it... Thanks a lot...

I've been eyeing up this add-on for a while. I finally purchased it today and WOW! The amount of work that must have gone into this is phenomenal.

Relatively straightforward to use and no "post processing" required. It's generated a perfect mesh, ready for 3d printing with no flipped normals and or repair work to do.
1st herringbone gear has almost finished printing!

I've tried other gear generating add-ons previously but given up on them all.

For anyone considering Precision Gears, Get it! you won't be disappointed!

Thank you for making such an awesome Tool!

This will greatly help because I'm wanting to work with precision mechanical 3D models and this will make it easier! Thanks a lot for showing it!

I used the lite Version for some time now, today i bought the Full Version, and i enjoy it. And i have some suggestions - play the rig should work by rotating the driver(just like the native driver/driven in blender). For planets there could be a duplicate gear, so you have to manage only one planet. Especially for 3d printing a overall bevel at top and bottom would be nice(now possible in many parameters)

Man if you cut out all the Blender stuff this would be an incredibly good course on gear design/mechanics for engineers and industrial maintenance techs! Definitely worth while for the uninitiated.

It looks like this video is NOT for the free/light version which I use. For example I don't find any "rigging" option, which make it impossible follow the video.

WOW. Hell YEA ! Doing it right !
Good work !! This will b SOoOoO helpful

Cycloidal and harmonic drives would be a great add. I have a python script that I've written that will generate a proper cycloidal gear but it lacks the animation, rigging, and nice user interface you've added. If you decide to add cycloidal gears, and want that script, let me know and I'll send it to you.

Perfectly what I required. downloaded the lite to try it out then 10mins later payed for the full version. well worth the money to save my hours of learning how to model each type of gear.
Thanks for creating the plugin! :)

Any chance of spherical gears being added? Or is that already a possibility through tweaking the settings?

Wow, that's cool! Thanks for sharing this!

Worm cut gears are what you are supposed to use with worm gears, as they lean onto the worm gear on a larger surface.

Ofc. they are harder to make.

And if you want perfection the length of worm gear teeth should vary along its axis to allow it to engage more teeth on the worm cut gear simultaneously - sorry i am not up to my english jargon so name doesnt jumps to mind immediately.
