I literally got a tattoo that says "Together through life" everyone asks me with whom? but it's for myself this song have helped me with my depression. Whenever I listen to this it reminds me to love myself and be strong and not hurt myself again physically. I don't know if that makes sense but Self-love is very important I have struggled to love myself before because of peoples' harsh words and judgment but this song made me feel something and that I am important. xx Peace and Light for everyone.

This song is underrated. Although, I am glad and feel it's better that the songs is underrated than being overrated. This song is certainly my favourite song sung by Coldplay. The lyrics and tune are so magical. Love you Coldplay!

I am sitting in my chair outside my home listening this beautiful song, looking up the stars and thinking about memories. I love coldplay 💆🏻‍♂️

Wow love reading other peoples interpretations. Here is my interpretation:

The video portrays two lovers and their deaths. Notice, these loves have expressionless faces but throughout this video we the viewers pick up on the profound emotion given by the filmography. Coldplay does this so we can all relate to them.

The beginning the couple enters a Forrest she separates into a tunnel of light (very important scene) is this heaven? And our male hero separates into almost a cave of danger and darkness. My understanding from this is that perhaps his lover has passed away. He is sent into a pit of grief as he fends off sharp vine like branches in a jungle.

He is now a man in pain "feels like there's something broken inside" the separation from his lover is painful. He tries to find answers at a bottom of a glass and has some drawings of her silhouette on the bar table. He sees a reflection in a puddle and suddenly we transport to an ocean.

Is this the ocean of their love? What is the significance of the waterfall? How about the Falcon/Eagle and the Bear standing on two sides of a cliff and a waterfall between them.. Well if we take a look at symbolism the Eagle in many cultures represents "spirits" who have left the material world, it also symbolizes FREEDOM and LOOKING AHEAD is he saying looking ahead to another dimension the spiritual dimension?? And a Bear represents "healing", medicine, wisdom and strength, he is a man that needs healing. I think the woman is the Eagle Spirit. She has passed away and Bear (our male hero) is looking for her so he can heal but he cannot find her since he cannot simply fly to the other side of the cliff. So he continues his search....

"I am lost in your fire below" is a line that resonates with me... "Hell" is a fire below and he is lost in hell. He climbs a spiral like staircase made of her drawings in almost a Stairway To Heaven like moment.... where he finds a telescope to continue his search for her in the stars...We see a brief moment of two Koy Fish constellations swimming together - many asians may know, two koy fish in a pond is a very powerful symbol in Eastern Culture of Love & Harmony. (many people get tatoos of two Koy Fish as well). The interpretation of tattoo at the beginning of the story said Together Through Life.

Alas the final scene is the tragedy. The male hero finally boards a sailboat with a compass.... Still lost his compass cant point north...without his soul mate he searches their "ocean's love" until the waterfall which is his final moment in the material world and now he is reunited with his love and only.
