Probably one of the most effective blunt force weapons I have seen carried by criminals is the skateboard, and one of the most effective stabbing weapons carried by criminals is a screwdriver. The reason I mention it is because outlawing other blunt force weapons and many stabbing weapons had never made sense to me. The bad guy will always find a way to carry an effective weapon that cannot be declared illegal.

For nunchuks I was always told the ban had less to do with them being a dangerous weapon and more to do with them being an easy way for kids to hurt themselves. Similar to the ban on lawn darts.

Blackjack is the most dumb weapon ever banned. Maybe later theyll lock you up for keeping your batteries too close to your socks?

In re nunchaku, or "numchuks" as we used to call them... when I was maybe 10 years old, my buddy and I wanted to be ninjas. So I made nunchaku out of pieces I cut from a broom handle, and a length of rope. I have *never* *ever* received a more brutal beatdown than the one I gave myself while teaching myself those fancy moves. I had to convince my parents I hadn't been in a real fight!

Stephen Colbert said it best about nunchaku: If someone tries to mug you with a nunchaku, there's a 50/50 chance you'll walk away with the mugger's watch.

" Banned " but you can buy everything in the video all over the internet or just about any army surplus store.

When I was in the first grade Nina turtles were huge. My dad made me some nunchucks that I took to school and my teacher not only let me use them at recess but encouraged me to present them for show and tell. Amazing how times have changed.

I was "detained " at all mall and the cop told the mall security to give me my batton back as it was NOT illegal. That's America

I got charged with possessing nunchuku. The case was dismissed when I pointed out to the magistrate that you could buy them in a shop just a few hundred meters from the court building. 😂

I have a strange memory of clackers being considered deadly and banned. It is simply a string with metal balls at each end. A ring in the string halfway that allowed you to "clack".

The most dangerous weapon a nunchuck user could ever face, was their own nunchuks!!!

Used to live in a neighborhood with loose, aggressive dogs. I was attacked on average, once a year. Used an expandable baton and the dogs seemed to immediately grasp the "reach" of the weapon and would stay out of range. Switching to nunchaku, I was able to hit several dogs. I believe it was because the dog estimated my "reach" to be only one of the legs of the nunchaku. And of course, my "reach" was more than twice an long. Later switched to pepper spray. Shot several dogs with pepper spray. I never was bit. My neighbors couldn't say that.

Actually Nunchucks are not banned in the UK. They are classed as offensive weapons so you can get in trouble for brandishing them on the street or carrying them without a good reason (like traveling to a martial arts class).

Years back we had a neighbor kid around 16 or so that would walk past with numchuks and tease our dogs. We lived out in the country and our closest neighbor was about a half mile away. We had 500 acres across the road and 270 behind us with our lawn enclosed with a five foot tall fence and our house in the center. We had a German Shepard and a doberman and both were bought and trained at a K9 training center that had a good reputation. This kid would walk all the way over to our house just to mess with our dogs, striking our fence with his numchuks. One day we were sitting out front and he walked up and started, I told him that every time I see him doing this I would let the dogs out. He thought it was funny and kept it up, he told me that he would kill both my dogs if I ever let them out. I told him that i'm willing if he was. I told him that I had complete faith in the dogs and that the nearest tree was a quarter mile away so good luck. Well lets just say it didn't go well for him and he ended up need the paramedics, plus we had everything he did that summer on video for mom and dad.

It’s fucking hilarious that some states would have constitutional carry laws for guns but make certain knives n sword canes illegal. Im pro gun n pro knife..pro weapon in general, but I just think that ban logic is beyond idiotic.

Mythbusters did a segment that showed Nunchaku are not as effective as one would think. I think the flexible middle killed a lot of the mass inertia and the hit wasn't as hard as a straight baton.

In Australia, where everything is banned, rondel daggers and bollock daggers are banned (at least in NSW) but long swords are legal to own.

A blackjack isn't just a "sack you fill with anything" Its usaully filled with lead fishing weights. I used to have one that was a spring one solid wieght at the end and would leave a deep dent in a wooden table. Could easily crack a skull.

In Germany Nunchakus are banned because of the capability of strangling someone to death... In the shelter I have a bunch of ropes, around 2-3 meters (~6.5-10 ft) so yeah.... If I wanted to strangle someone to death, these would be much more practical than nunchakus
