Think about these before attending and/or selecting and/or applying to an architecture school:

- Find out who is going to be teaching you - large urban schools tend to draw a lot of working professionals instead of smaller ones - so you can get a better idea of the profession
- See if you can tour the architecture facilities. Do they have laser cutters? 3D printers? Will they give you a computer and/or software? Try and walk through studios!!
- Set your own personal goals as to what you want to accomplish with the major
Are you looking to teach?
Do you just want to be licensed?
- Do you want a pre-professional degree which requires a M.Arch degree in order to be a licensed architect? OR, do you want a professional degree and then go straight to practicing architecture at a firm? Some schools offer 4+2 programs, some offer a 5 year program. Do you research!!!

ok, you mentioned it. MAKE SURE YOUR SCHOOL IS GETTING YOU THE Barch. 4 year professional degrees are nice, but you will HAVE to continue on. My daughter is graduating this year (school in pa not on this list) and as i come from a construction background, i can see that she received a good education. She intends to go to grad school and has been accepted to Cornell, amongst a few others. REMEMBER, in Architecture school you learn creativity. You don't learn the business. Especially if you intend to go into commercial construction arena, make sure you gobble up every course you can about contract administration and specifications. They're usually electives and are more important and will prepare you better for the real world once you get out of school. And first yera of the Barch program, is basically let's see who really wants to be an architect. 50% typically drop out of the architecture programs.

Architecture schools can be design centric (RISD) or almost civil engineering programs ( U of Oklahoma). Syracuse fostered a broad approach with the largest university art school on campus also at SU a large engineering school too.

Hi! I’m a graduate of bs architecture in the philippines. We’re planning to migrate and I was wondering if I need to take another 5yr program of bs architecture in the states to be able to take the licensure exam there? Or should I go straight and pursue a masters degree instead? Thanks! ❤️

Hello Nat, I wanted to ask about a BFA in architecture. I recently finished my 4 year undergrad from SCAD and wanted to know if that type of degree counts as a pre-professional degree or not. Thanks again and really enjoy your videos!
