I think rules and laws about deep fakes should be put in place before this gets any worse because real harmful things can happen to people's reputations and even the fact that people can claim innocence for crap they did say!

Putting Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump into archival TV footage could be considered early deepfake video. They digitally manipulated the lips of the other people in the scenes to move in sync with an impersonator's voice.

It's insane how much the technology improved it just 4 years, we now have an almost perfect TTS voices as well.
