If it's not on your list I would love to know how to properly keep track of mixing colors! When I took a class in community college and working with black and white guash, I could never get the value to stay consistent. It's my biggest set back to painting XD

Lodge (cast iron pan company) makes a hard plastic scraper I use for my pans. I bet they'd work really well to clean your palettes, with less risk of scratching...

I use a homemade stay-wet palette, reusing plastic tubs from takeout chinese food, paper towels and silicone coated parchment paper. The power of stay-wet, the convenience of being semi disposable!

This video was very helpful and informative! I’m surprised you didn’t mention using a ceramic plate, though. My high school art teacher required us to get a white, ceramic dinner plate to use all of our acrylic paints on. It’s easy to wash the paint off, and you can use a palette knife without worrying about scratching the plate as easily. Plus, you can easily buy one at the thrift store for a pretty low price! It’s just another option I think would be helpful for beginner artists to consider!

Before I got a glass palette I used a shiny white rectangular platter I found at IKEA. I only went to glass so I could back it with a neutral gray paper so I judge my colors better. I tone my canvases with the same neutral gray color.

Just began my very 1st college level painting course, although my professor is great, she is not as beginner friendly as your directions are. That you for taking out the time to make your videos especial the color wheels, hues, and saturation.

I love my glass palette! For cleaning it, I take off the wet paint, and spritz the dry areas with water. In a few minutes the dry paint lifts from the surface. I then use an old credit card to scrape off the paint. No razor blade needed!

This came in my recommendation with timing. I was gonna buy some today for my painting class cuz ive been using aluminum foil wrapped to a cardboard.

I had a teacher in college that taught us how to make a glass pallet by buying a picture frame and carefully taking the glass out putting a piece of paper on one side then taking duct tape and wrapping it in strips completely covering the back and the edges while leaving the other side uncovered. It worked pretty well and some people even customized there’s by using all sorts of different patterns of tape on the back.

This is probably a stupid question, but with those palettes that you hook your thumb through, are they ambidextrous? As a lefty (who'd be holding that in his right hand) I always get wary around stuff like that.

I lost my palette knife, so I use the other end of my paint brush!
