Exploring An Abandoned Pioneer Log Cabin From The 1840's

Exploring an abandoned log cabin that was built in the 1840's and last used for a deer hunting camp many decades ago is on tap for tonight. The owner left it complete with all of the things inside and it's a time capsule from a more simple time and place. Please join me as I explore this very interesting abandoned home and see many interesting and valuable antiques still in place.

If I owned something like that I would never let it get that delapetated. I would at least clean it up. That place is beyond cool.

Oh my god, that upstairs bed with the round bed frame. Love it.

Your videos certainly provide a needed break from the crisis we are all facing. Thank you!

This reminds me of the cabin my parents, grandparents and my aunt and uncle built before us kids were born...65+ years ago. We had "running" water in the kitchen, courtesy of a hand pump, and a wood-burning cookstove that also heated the water. The "bedroom" was a dormitory-style space upstairs with curtains/blankets on wires as partitions...no heat upstairs save what came from the fireplace on the main floor. We had an outhouse away from the cabin by 100 feet or so...seemed like a mile when I was a kid.
That is a massive cabin in comparison to the one my family had. I bet it could be cleaned up and repaired and be usable again. Very cool. I could live in that...more square footage than my apartment. I don't need many amenities. lol

Man it hurts my soul to see a place like that rot away. Just imagine the history and stories that place has.

Would love to be able to restore an old house like that. That one is actually in descent enough shape that it could be brought back.

I would love to spend the summer fixing it up getting rid of the termites and painting it and sleeping through winter next2 the fire place cooking rice and 🥩 drinks a few beer and living of the land and don’t forget watching your videos there’s a few houses like this in Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺 there made of sandstone but there tiny seeing something this large and not vandalised is so cool to see what’s underneath the floor boards coins gold guns or Timmy 6ft under lol

Crazy how so much can change but so many things stay the same. The “cabin” me and friends hunt out of is very similarly laid out. Kitchen with VERY large cooktops, rooms with as many bunks as possible, multiple different stoves and heaters in different rooms, fun stuff displayed on the walls, even a few “NO SMOKING” signs to remind the old guys to go outside. I could almost smell the old place as you explored this gem!

WOW! Cool old place, imagine if the walls could talk, the stories they could tell of. Thanks Chig for the mini adventure. Nice little break from all the craziness that's bombarding us 24/7 the past couple of weeks. To one and all please be careful out there.

Thanks for the escape from reality & a walk down memory lane. That place reminds me of every house I've ever lived in.

At the very beginning when you started walking up and got closer, the front door was darkened then came to focus and brightened up pretty quickly... I legitimately thought that someone was standing in the doorway. Sent a shiver down my spine. Great video, as usual!

You have exchanged the Corona for the Hanta!! All the stuff you have breathed in from caves, holes, underneath houses, underwater etc. etc. have given you amazing immunity!

Just needs vacuuming and dusting :>) So many beds in that place, accommodation for 20 people. I have a Snider Enfield that would take that round in the drawer!
