Fun fact: Stalin didn't recognize France as part of the allies due to their early defeat in WW2 but the leader of Free France, Charles de Gaulle insisted that France have an equal say in the treaties. Stalin later agreed but only if the France took a part of Germany that the USA and the UK occupied which is why the territory French occupied zone of Germany seems split between the US and the UK's zones. Because of Stalin, Charles de Gaulle wasn't invited to the Yalta and Potsdam conferences and he felt deeply insulted.

Fun fact: America did not want france to be treated as a winning power, in fact, when in 1945 france tried to invade north Italy (there were still fascists but when the partigians and Italians came they kept fighting) america threatened to declare war on france if they didn’t give the piece of land back immediately. The UK was mostly the reason why France got anything
