Ok... I read very fast the 108 comments, so my apologies for logic blanks. 1. In the beginning, man created god, ...etc; later on, (depending of your personal time line) some human civilizations (Industan based, Egyptian, Aztec, Inca, and some others), continued creating more gods for various purposes. Many gods are currently being used. So, we can take all the gods out of the conversation, including the AI god. 2. The word consciousness, so far has an empty or deficient definition since we humans are in the baby stages of discovering it (even highly trained gurus struggle to explain it). So, we can take conciousness out of the conversation. 3. Last time I checked human history, it is still bleeding profusely from the horrors we have done to each other along our "evolution". We see a beautiful, dreamy, heavenly picture story, we forget that we have not evolved as humans. AI and AGenerativeI will go ahead, since the creators seem to have an endeless supply of resources. But, seriously, we are NOT READY. Place a baby in an aereoplane pilot's seat ready to take off. You can clapp all you want along the runway, wishing the baby a great flight..., but you know in your heart the end of the story. I wish us all the best with the realization of this video's story, hoping that history will prove me wrong.

I wonder if this was made a little while ago because we're already starting to see the bottleneck of hardware and energy.

I suspect that it might be possible and also highly desirable that artificial intelligence can instead of requiring more hardware and the energy to run it that it can just simply improve its own algorithms at superhuman pace so then the intelligence can improve without the corresponding increase in hardware and the energy to run it.

Actually maybe we should ask the question whether it's moral to create actually self-aware conscious super intelligence? Basically I could start off as having the status of just simply unconscious super intelligence and then be seen as a tool or a slave. That would be a real ethical conundrum.

Why don't we limit artificial intelligence to being an extremely intelligent powerful tool but without awareness so then therefore we don't have to deal with whether or not it should have rights.

Now we might get to the point to where we could upload a human consciousness into a quantum computer but then essentially that would still be a human irrespective of the hardware that it's intelligence is running on. That individual would have the rights of personhood. However however it should not be enslaved by any stretch of the imagination.

27:38 I think self-awareness in entities that could be a million times more intelligent than us will mean that they will start considering themselves as the superior species I think that is probably dangerous and that if we have super intelligent machines that are just simply as I say quadrillion times more powerful than handheld calculators well then that is pretty safe and we can do one hell of a lot of good with that. But do we really want self-aware machines that could be well kind of like Terminator or Colossus the forbin project, because if they are no longer calculators but they are self-aware beings that are probably millions of times if not trillions of times smarter than us, could this lead to them believing they are a superior species?

I find all of your videos to be insightful but also short sighted. They are based on the presupposition that capitalism remains the dominant ideology in the world. Not to say that these advances won't happen anyway, but how they are applied and more importantly "who controls/owns" them will have a big impact on the outcomes and applications. Personally I always saw the Star Trek type thesis as being something to move towards, technologies should assist humans and not become the tools of oppression and domination as most modern capitalists would have it. A major ideological shift could see a vastly different development timeline for humanity, but one rooted in social and economic equity!
