Haula actually said to him at one point that it didn’t matter if he let up 10 goals as long as he enjoys it

This so awesome! I worked for him for a while in 2015. Great guy who deserves all the best. So cool to see him between the pipes like this. Amazing

Kudos to the crowd for giving credit where it's due.

He's old enough to be dad for most players on ice. Once in a lifetime experience, and a great one.

I really hope the leafs miss the playoffs by 2 pts so we can say that Toronto's own emergency goalie helped eliminate them😅

The Toronto Maple Leafs just lost to a 42 year old Zamboni driver.

when you have four forwards making over 40 million combined and a Zamboni driver goaltender beats you...

...That's a Dang-It.

This is what people mean when they say you could put anybody in net and a great defensive team would be alright. This is the difference between contenders and the leafs. And I've been a die hard leaf fan my whole life. And you know I ain't BS-ing cause who in their right mind claims to be a die hard leaf fan unless they are 😞. But this season's been so bad I honestly expected to lose even when David Ayres came in and when they lost it felt no different than the last loss to Pittsburgh. Just pure embarrassment, but I'm used to it by now. Really happy for David tho. Saw his post game interview and just seems like a genuinely good guy. Funniest part is he literally works for the leafs. Hockey night in Canada, in Toronto no less. I'm genuinely happy for him

This is why hockey is the best game on earth. There is no way you can see this scene in other sports.

I’m an EBUG for a local pro team. It’s always crazy to see this! Congrats to Ayres for sticking in there!

That's just about the most amazing story I have heard in ages! Great for David, though it's rotten that he had to help a visitor defeat his Leafs!

Lmao imagine losing to your own zamboni driver

OVI has got to be so mad at the Leafs. Imagine joining the 700 goal club as only the 8th player to ever do so, and then a team you gave constructive criticism to earlier in the season upstages you by losing to a Non-NHL Goalie.

This whole season the Leafs have been searching for a backup goalie when they already had one and they didn't know it...
