Bernadette making a pistoleer holster specifically for her posture is what I needed out of my weekend.

"I have some little Anglo-Saxon reproduction buckles here". As one does.

I was expecting this to end up with Bernadette realizing that she's dangerously close to a Noir detectives leather gun holster, and decide that the project needed to include some tool holsters/scissor sheaths. One can never have too many pockets after all.

I have ankylosing spondylitis, and I don't give a damn what people say about corsets. Tightlacing has made my quality of life better and I look sexy. I also have ridiculously big boobs, and the corsets hold them up so my spine doesn't have to. Screw the establishment. And I'll try this too

I asked my physical therapist if I should make one of these and she was like ":/ those are for little old ladies hunched over sewing projects. You should strengthen your muscles instead" and I felt so attacked. (Building muscle has helped my scoliosis a lot tho lol)

I have horrible posture, this is speaking to me!
Also I've very much missed these random style videos. The higher production of the bigger projects is great, but these random "I need to make a thing to solve a problem" vids are my personal favourites🖤

It's VERY similar to a shoulder holster, just minus the holsters. It helps explain why they look like push up bras for men, pushing up and out on posture.

Watch Bernadette gradually reinvent the shoulder gun holster.

A couple of quick tips from a professional leather worker.
Consider using an edge beveling knife to cut those 90 degree corners off the straps and burnish with some tokenole and a wood slicker. Corder Leather has a great video on edge finishing that I highly recommend. This is going to keep any sharp edges from dining into sensitive areas like the arm pit.
Using resoline is great, but consider using some more tokenole and a glass burnisher on the back. This will seal the suede side.
Tokenole is made from plant resin and wax. When you rub it briskly with a hardwood slicker or a glass burnisher, it generates heat, allowing the wax to melt into the leather and seal it. When done properly, you can actually get the suede side almost as smooth as the skin side.
This is also going to strengthen the leather as it compacts the fibers and keeps them flexable, without weighing them down with acrylic (which resoline is made from).
Hope this helps. 💚

@DannyBanner DANNY!!! THOSE ANIMATED TURNAROUNDS AT 2:45!! DUDE THOSE ARE SLICK!! Character turnarounds are notoriously difficult to pull off but holy crap those ones are epic

This took me back to my teenage years, where I made the 8 figure shoulder harness out of a broad elastic band for added flexibility. Elastic enough to enable me to reach for things, but rigid enough to gently nudge my shoulder back when not force was applied. Worked like a charm.

I thought of a "tasuki" when you put on the figure 8 model. It's a strip of cloth used to keep kimono sleeves back.

The figure-of-eight style is also used in Japanese traditional dress to keep the drooping kimono/yukata sleeves back while getting manual work done. Those were usually formed from decorative rope or fabric strips, depending on socio-economic class of the wearer.

Tis a truth universally acknowledged that a person with any works in progress MUST be in want of more projects ❤😅

I love how Bernadette just _casually_ has some Anglo-Saxon reproduction buckles. Absolute goals

The biggest thing for me that helped improve my posture was actually stretching out my chest. Your pecs get used to the hunched over posture, so they shorten, and if you try to just hulk out and overpower that, you end up with a sore back. If you stretch and lengthen the muscle first, you'll spend less energy fighting your posture. Stretch!

I've gotta say, I legitimately love the chaotic gremlin energy of this episode and I hope you make more lil scrappier videos like this one!
