MicroNugget: What are IPv6 Summary Routes?

Показать описание
In this video, Keith Barker covers how to implement a summary route in an OSPF Network with IPv6. You’ll learn what a summarization is and reasons why you should consider implementing one. Keith will follow this up with a walkthrough of how to create a summary route, then verify that it’s been successful.
An IPv6 network comprises millions upon millions of separate networks. To avoid having to trace just as many individual routes as there are networks, you can create summary routes that guide your traffic in the general direction it needs to go.
Keith will go into IPv6 configuration mode for OSPF and then step through a general summary of how to define, create, and then verify a summary route.
You’ll see how saving a routing entry on a local topology represents much greater efficiencies that can be gained across a broad network like the internet. Each individual route could represent tens of thousands of more detailed networks.
