I laughed when you said this island has enough money, that they close the supermarket. You're probably too young to know but that's not down to lots of money, that's how all the Greek Islands used to work, due to the heat in the afternoon, it just means it's a more traditional island. The restaurant at Lientou beach usually serve you as soon as possible, so I guess they were either very busy or short staffed, and someone was waiting on as well as helping in the kitchen. There are also lots of cats but there are two lively volunteers who look after them around the whole island and there are feeding stations, so the cats know where to hang around. I know where you stayed, I stayed just across the square out front, and up the path, and there weren't a lot of cats up there, but more near the ferry port and around restaurant Manolis in the evening. Although the shops close, you may have found out the bakery where you bought your pastry, don't close, so you can get pies, sandwiches, pizza to go, and a whole range of other meals & snacks if you sit in. I loved Lipsi, only disappointing part to me, was the reaction of some locals towards the cats when you feed them, even if you don't leave any mess or do it outside someone's property.
