What a great video. I was a teen in the 60's and remember all these cars well. My high school counselor had that model of Toronado and I recall what a beautiful car that was, it was parked near the entrance I used to get into school. The 60's were truly a great era for GM in full-size cars. We had a 1959 Oldsmobile and that was my favorite car my parents ever owned. I really enjoy this channel, your work is very informative.

I've gotta say we share the same taste in cars. Your descriptions and justification for your choices are spot on. Thanks for showcasing these beauties for those of us who live vicariously.

I always considered the 64 and 65 Rivera the most perfect design ever for a car.

Great list
I've owned 68 ELDO, gold smooth top, currently a black 69 smoothie ELDO, and a Teal 70 500 ELDO with Black vinyl top.
You're spot on regarding Cadillac design of these cars, Dramatic! And everytime I look at it, it's super cool and exciting, let alone cruising it around, really my favorite car

I purchased a 1965 Rivera new . Black on Black with the factory sport wheels. It was a beautiful way cool car. Paid 4 grand for it new and sold it over 10 years later at action for 4 grand.

No one can summarize the beauty of these 60s GM cars like you Adam. I’ve always been a big fan of the 60s models of the big 3, but I have a new appreciation thanks to you! Bravo!

Very thoughtful and tasteful assessment of '60's styling. All of these have timeless style. The first car I bought was a '65 Riviera with 64, 000 miles, in '76, at age 18. Two years later a "67 Eldo with 62, 000 miles. I let both go when investing in my business, but I still own a '65 Riv and '67 Eldorado to this day. I think they are both stunning!

My parents had a 65 Buick Wildcat GS. My brother and I spent so many miles riding around in the back on the package tray! No seatbelts required!! That car was beautiful. I would love to have one now.

As you said, GM really produced an abundance of beautifully styled cars in the 1960s. These that you've chosen all deserve to be on the list of the top 10, but there are probably others who would make a list of the top 15 or top 20. What a wonderful time to have been alive.

All are beautiful cars! I so enjoy the knowledge you have of them. I think it is wonderful that you collect and preserve all of vehicles you do!

GM had the most consistent and often the best styling in this era, but in truth, I love most everything of this era.

For me it was the '66 Toronado that made me stop and stare, wondering what planet that car came from. I was a 12 year old kid that was just beginning to be interested in automobiles. I think seeing that car made me start taking more notice of the styling of all cars. And I appreciate the beauty of the '65 Impala much more than I did back then; probably because I saw it as an "old person's car" back then, and now I am one!

I love your list . I’m 75, so I remember riding around in those cars . My favorite is the same as yours . 67 Eldorado .
My father was driving Cadillacs then but always had the Fleetwood sedan . I was lucky because our family friends had the 60 DeVille convertible, the 61 Fleetwood and 61 Continental sedan . I was riding in style as a kid 😀

If I’d been in the market for a personal luxury car in 1966, it would have been hard for me to choose between the Riviera and Toronado, although the Riv might have gotten the nod by a nose. Competitors of the day had some nice cars, but the breadth of beautiful GM cars was unmatched.

The subtitle of this vid could be "Some of the best automotive designs to come out of the USA from any era".

So glad you included the underappreciated 1960 Buick and 1960 Cadillac--choices that seem to have been controversial judging by some of the comments. I don't see the 1960 Buick as "doughy" or pudgy-looking relative to the '59s. To me, all that chiseled side-sculpturing makes it more muscular-looking than the '59--like having a defined 6-pack instead of a smooth stomach. (Some of the other commentators also called the '60 Cadillac pudgy, whereas it's much sleeker and uncluttered than the bloated, garish '59s, and much better put together stylistically than the jagged chrome and sheet metal hodgepodge of the '61s.) Only real mistake on the list was the '69 Grand Prix. I think styling took a dive across the whole GM lineup in '69 and continued to devolve in the '70s. So, if GTOs were ineligible for this list for being sports cars, then replace the '69 Grand Prix with the '66/'67 Tempest/LeMans, which have the same faultless exterior styling as the GTOs. Or substitute the razor-sharp 1962 Cadillac, which corrected the styling flaws of the '61!
