Auto turn off is a great thing even if it’s small. My mom would forget to turn hers off sometimes and I would start smelling the hot straightener smell (iykyk) in the house and go check it. Sure enough it was on Every. Single. Time. She could definitely use one with an auto off feature.

Dyson did a lot of research on miles of different types of hair, and found that heat damage occurs over 302 degrees Fahrenheit. So, if you're using this on the below 302 degrees setting, you're not heat damaging your hair. Plus, because you're not pulling/stretching/snagging your hair, that's also saving your hair from mechanical damage.
If you use this on the above 302 degrees setting, you DO need to use heat protectant on your hair.

I was skeptical, bought it and love it!! 10 mins for medium length hair wavy over processed with highlights - from wet to dry flat shiny hair. Game changer

Hai Brad! For experiments like this, could you also use mannequins with 4b-4c hair? I’d love to see how these products work with thick and coarse textured hair. TYILYSM 💜

Got it last week and I’m in love. I’m a recent brunette to blonde and a toddler mom so anything that can cut my style time and reduce heat damage is worth it for me. I think it works like a dream. I’m not good with the blow dryer and brush anyways and always ended up following with the flat iron. I feel like this is saving my expensive newly blonde hair

I love how it works wonders for people with straight hair but not as well for those with curly who would run to buy it if it worked as well on curly

I recently got this and for me this is a game changer. I have 2C curly hair and it normally takes FOREVER for my hair to dry. In fact, I rarely blow dry my hair simply because it takes so long. This got my hair flat after 2 or 3 passes with the 235 heat. I was shocked that I could get my head dry that fast. With curly hair you do really want to blow the roots a little extra before you start the passes but its only like 5 seconds per section. The secret to getting it look GOOD is to do one last pass on the cold/cool setting.

This maybe a "single purpose tool" but as someone with curly hair, straightening my hair IS the secondary look that I desperately want but is so hard to get. I have watched 100 tutorials about how to do your own blow out but I might be just awkwards but I cannot get the back of my head. I just can't get it down, so some part is always missed and remains curly. If I want to flat iron my hair I have to dry it which is 30-40 minutes, before I can flat iron it and then I always end up burning myself at least once using the flat iron. But this is so simple and fast, and its nearly impossible to burn yourself on the plates. I hate having curly hair and I love that I now have a tool that makes it stupidly easy for me to use and get done in a fraction of the time than separately blow-drying and flat ironing -- but with better results.

I’ve owned this Dyson about 3-4 weeks now. I have thick, wavy, Caucasian hair, highlighted. This thing works to eliminate the dryer+flat iron. Here are the challenges…I have a LOT of hair so by the time I’m about 1/3-1/2 done, I feel way very done. It starts to get old fast. I want to throw it down and plug in the regular Dyson and just finish my hair and who cares how it looks. I have decided i just have to practice. So I think I’m keeping it. Brad’s point about the auto on and off feature is true. That is priceless. I’d say it’s likely best for longish thin wavy hair, it doesn’t mean it won’t be good for other hair types, just that it would be best for thinner hair since it won’t take as LONg to get through the entire head. Oh and I use the mid-heat setting.

Nothing can convince me that it's not more damaging than straightening dry hair

You just brightened my evening! Cheers for your energy and humour ❤ and for showing what this incredibly expensive product does! I can’t justify the price, hair dryer with a brush works brilliantly for me. “If it ain’t broke, don’t be fixing it” is my motto 😂

I got a Remington wet to straight in 2003 in the large plate . I had very long curly/ wavy hair and could never get it nice with a hair dryer alone at home . That wet/straight was the best present I ever got my hair was always shiny soft no dead ends I loved it . I do actually still own it but I got ill and could no longer use my hands to hold it so go the hair dresses now once a week. Am really surprised that this tech has only just made a comeback 20 years later but $500 that’s pricey to say the least when the Remington was £70 back in the day .

I wanna see this used on extremely curly hair. If it can straighten from root to end and no frizz then maybe it’s worth investing 😌

Would definitely be interested in some dupe comparisons here. Seems like a great alternative to hair dryer + straightener for me. But as usual Dyson stuff be steep and I rarely seen their products last any better than the cheaper alternatives.

I can see where the no damage claim is coming from. Natural hair girls usually keep our flatiron set around 450° so a product that sits around 285 is significantly less damage. When you pair that with a heat protector that's almost no damage. With all of the damage repair products out here you could probably straighten your hair with this and have virtually no damage.

I just used mine Friday and woah I freaking love it! I am African American and I have been getting a keratin treatment for over 5 years now so most of the time I wear my hair straight. I have all 3 types of dyson blow dryers and although I haven’t used the airwrap yet I love the air straight dryer. I plan to use the airwrap the next time I wash my hair.

I have the AirStrait and one of the best features is that it somehow keeps my multitextured (2b/3a) hair from frizzing, even in a very humid coastal area. It seems like it seals the hair shaft from allowing moisture in, but I’m not a hairstylist so that’s just my best guess. Also, after using wet to dry yesterday, I clipped my still warm hair up while I did my makeup. When I took out the clip, my hair fell into really pretty loose waves & it has stayed that way. Next time I’m going to clip it up on both sides to purposely try to create more even loose waves!

I purchased mine several weeks ago and I have come to love it! It took some getting used to and I get my hair to be bevel also!

I love my Airstraight, my hair isn’t very curly and it works perfectly for me. It cuts down on time for me since everything is just one step now and my hair is so soft afterwards.

Auto turn off is invaluable. My sister saw her straightener was melting into the mattress because she left it on and what did she do? Put a quilt over it and left. We had words, many many words.

There are lots of dupes. (This is actually a dupe of something else.) A great video would be comparing them. The Drybar Blow drying flat iron is my first idea.
