Mr. Mercedes: S01 E06: Bill Hodges Meets Holly Gibney

Looking forward to see this Holly, since my first seeing her was in the Outsider, didn't know about the character till then. For me, Holly is that Outsider rendition, imagining her like that in every other story I've read/listened to, that Elpheba actress is my Holly. This one seems to be great too, her mental state is depicted very interestingly, can't say she is less Holly than the Elpheba girl, think I will enjoy acting of this actress as well. However the Outsider TV show (haven't read the book yet) has that grit and darkness to it, the gravitation of it made me accept Elpheba Holly at once, her opposition against the common sense of everyone else in the TV show story was so natural and real, she captured me a character. This TV show (Mr Mercedes) has an TV showy feeling to it, which is a bit less insisting that that HBO big screen film-ish feeling. Nevertheless, looking forward to Mr Mercedes show, have to say, the Hodges character was always the one and only Brandan Gleeson for me. Sorry for not knowing the names of the Holly actresses, though.

The derivation from the book doesn't bother me, I understand it like that the TV show is trying to hold Hartsfield's evilness as a possibility, not a given fact, since in the book it is put straightforward. Not yet in the part where Holly appears. Hodges' uncanny neighbour lady a nice touch, haven't met her in the book yet, if her appearance is only a TV show thing, it is a very well done.

Justine portrays Holly exactly as written in the books written by King. Cynthia Errivo does not.

The Outsider's Holly is quiet, intelligent, deliberate, so brave. My preference is Cynthia Erivo's Holly.
