What do you do if you thought the mamey was ready, cut it open and it was softening around the outside but the inside is rock hard and underripe?? Online it said if it's reddish/orange when you peel away a small spot by the stem it's ready + if it's soft all around. I guess I didn't let it get soft enough 😭 what can I do to ripen it after it's been cut?

I bought a mamey and it rock hard! How do I ripen it? Should I put in a paper bag? Should I put in in the fridge? Do I leave it out on the counter? What’s your best advice...mine is shaped more oval or teardrop.

Those look like two different mamae. The one you cut is a mamae sapote. The other looks like mamae Americana, or mamae apple.
