It's Tolu here! Hope everyone is doing well and educating themselves on the #BlackLivesMatter movement.

The decisions doctors make are influenced by a concept known as medial ethics. This basically helps you choose right from wrong and offer the best form of treatment available to your patient. Medical ethics is so so important so I wanted to introduce the ideas behind it.

Loved this video! So informative. With everything going on right now, I'm wondering what your thoughts on mandated vaccines are and how patient autonomy/consent plays into that. I am not personally anti-vaccine, but all this talk about mandated vaccination seems to be a breach of ethics in this particular area. Or is considered ethical because it is potentially saving the lives of others in the midst of a pandemic, thereby adhering to the pillar of justice? As you said, the four pillars seem so straightforward forward but when you start applying them to real-life situations and weighing one against the other, it is definitely a complicated situation. I don't envy the medical professionals and authority figures who have to make these types of decisions.

Well explained! Thank you.
The classic HIV example might seem controversial. The patient confidentiality is above all! If doctors lose their patient's trust (for the benefit of fewer people that might be harmed) less and less patients will confide and feel safe. In case of infectious diseases, it'll be a catastrophe for the public health. (So we think globally rather than for the beneficence of single individuals).
