My Mom, zia, and cugina were driving to Venzone from Treviso and stopped at a store in San Daniele. As we were walking through the parking lot, I doubled over. I was laughing so hard, I almost fell over. We were stopped behind a car with a "Bimbo a bordo" sign on the window. My cousin looked at me with a confused look on her face. My limited Italian couldn't explain to her what a bimbo was. Three weeks later, we were coming back from Grado and I heard a word on the radio that filled in the void. I explained it to my cousin we had to pull off the road we were laughing so hard. Good times.

In Mexico, Bimbo is a bakery. Its bread is everywhere.

In Germany it's a very rude word for PoC, like the N-word in the US. I was so shocked, I heard it the first time from Americans. 😬

In Germany it’s even worse. I called someone a bimbo on Twitter and was suspended. I didn’t know why 😂

My friend was learning English and he would say "Bimbo!" but what he really meant was "Bingo!"

He appeared to be a bit too happy using the word bimbo a second time. 😂🤣

When learning Italian, I had the same reaction to this word, too. I'm English.

My Japanese mother used to say things like, "I can't buy now, I'm Bimbo, ha ha". Bimbo is older Japanese slang for poor 😂. We had to teach her to not use that word in our Japanglish.

It’s almost like a word can have more than one meaning depending on language, culture, time, context, or whatever Alessio says it means.

Classy way of describing the word in the US how she did 😂

It is a more trashy word here then classy like in Italia

Bimbo is the name we use for the typical bread from the USA, industrial, permanently soft, with a vinegar smell, sliced in perfect squares... We don't consider that a real bread. And sandwiches made with that bread are called bikini in Catalonia.
