Brand new shocks have been, most likely, stored horizontaly on some shelf in storage. Which results in temporary ”defective” operation of shock. In some shock manual there is a note: compress shocks mininum 5 times before installation and keep them in vertical position afterward. And even then it takes 200-300 km for them to reach normal operation. Therefore this video cannot be taken seriously, because we dont have all the facts about those shocks.

the shock absorber works in conjunction with the coil spring. The coil spring force acts opposite to the load, so if the vehicle hits a bump the spring (and shock) will compress and thus there will be a force extending the shock (pulling the shaft) at first then it will try to compress it and extend it until it stops. The better the shock is the more cycles it will reduce. The MONROE shock will require more force to be disturbed, meaning it will not allow the spring to expand as quickly which will result in smoother ride for the occupants of the vehicle.

Bilstein is a good aftermarket shock.Be sure to choose the right shock the first time around . Depending on use and the vehicle a stiffer ride or softer ride on a car or truck can create issues with ride height, road handling and swaying issues if your towing a trailer. To each their own when it comes to buying any products . Buy what works best for you and your vehicles needs and has proven product life and service .

From that video the sach is a stiffer shock with fast rebound. The monreo is softer with a slower rebound. You can't compare the out the box like this, doesn't work like that. They have been stored on there side for one and are designed to work with a spring and specific weight depending on the model of vehicle they were designed for. The will both have differences in the way they perform which makes brand uniqueness. Pointless test.

I like how they're insinuating that Sachs is better but ever since the lock down I haven't seen a new Sachs shock last their warranty

Left is a gas shock, right is a fluid shock. They both do the same job but operate different based on the demands of the driver. Gas shocks ride harder but fluid shocks give more smoothness

People clearly doesn't understand how shock absorbers works. The only reason why the push rod moves out again after being pressed down is because the oil inside is hold under pressure with an gas. This is to reduce oil cavitation when the piston moves fast.
The pressure inside also act on the cross surface area of the push rod and pushing it out again after being compressed. If the pressure is higher it's probably be moving faster.
But a more a more sophisticated valve pack may will make it move slower. So this test does not say anything about the shock absorbers more then the gas is still inside the shock absorbers.

The monroe looks set up for comfort. The sachs will improve body stability but will transfer bumps into the chassis.

Cada veículo tem suas características de ruído e conforto, cada amortecedor é projetado pra cada um deles, não adianta colocar um amortecedor muito duro em um veículo onde a prioridade é o conforto 👍👍👍👍

Depends on manufacturer specific design. The more the gas charge, the harder or stiffer the ride. Shocks job is to damper the downward travel so there isn't spring bounce.

I would say compare to a Brand New OEM strut, faster rebound on a damper doesn't always mean better.

I bought Sachs Front and Back Absorber for my Toyota Hilux 2014 Vigo. 2 weeks already, feeling smooth and solid even on a bumpy gravel road 💪🏼

They say give it a week before you do an alignment once you do suspension work. Because it has to works it self in. Don’t judge it unless it clearly is bad or defective

It depends on the preferences. I honestly prefer soft bound with hard rebound, like the Monroe. This will always provide better grip. Mechanics always consider that the best shock is the one that goes up fast on its own, wrong I would say as that is only the gas inside the shock absorber, not related to the performance of the bound/rebound valves and the quality of the oil inside.

Shocks and struts are supposed to be "burped" before installing. 5-10 compressions

I hate youtube sometimes for video's like this. They don't offer any plausible explanation, but try to distort or mislead facts.

I a few years ago had to finally replace my stock factory front struts on my Hyundai Elantra. The Monroe ones fitted properly and delivered all the ride, handling and performance of the stock factory struts.

A massa, mola e amortecedor funcionam juntos em um sistema de controle de vibrações presente nos automóveis. Testa-los em separados é um erro.
