Welcome to our discussion on Spain health insurance for Expats!
In this video our guest, Ciaran O’Toole from Innoinsure, a reputable health insurance agency, provides valuable insights and information.
As you embark on your journey to Spain, its sunshine, vibrant culture, and renowned healthcare system beckon. However, securing a visa or residency requires private health insurance, and navigating its intricacies can be daunting. This guide serves as your compass, empowering you to make informed decisions about your expat health insurance in Spain.

▶️ Meeting Visa Requirements:
Your initial focus should be ensuring your chosen insurance adheres to visa requirements. This typically entails comprehensive coverage, zero co-payments and deductibles, and a minimum financial guarantee ranging from €30,000 to €500,000. Remember, specifics might vary by consulate, so direct verification is crucial to avoid complications.

▶️ Understanding Coverage Scope:
While meeting visa requirements is essential, understanding the scope of your coverage is equally important. Dental and vision care are often available via add-ons, while prescription medications typically require separate arrangements. But don't be discouraged! Medication is generally more affordable in Spain compared to other regions.

▶️ Balancing Cost and Coverage:
Premiums can fluctuate based on your age, any pre-existing conditions, and the desired level of coverage. This guide provides illustrative examples for different age groups and scenarios to assist you. As for pre-existing conditions, fret not! Most insurers offer coverage after a medical review, and the premium will be adjusted accordingly.

▶️ Prioritizing Features and Network:
While cost is a key factor, it's crucial to consider more than just the price tag. Evaluate the comprehensiveness of the coverage, the insurer's provider network, and any valuable add-ons like emergency travel assistance.

▶️ Ensuring Seamless Communication:
Innoinsure stands out as the licensed International office of major health insurance companies, offering exclusive discounts and a seamless online purchasing experience. With pre and post-customer support in various languages and the ability to purchase insurance without a Spanish bank account, Innoinsure is dedicated to making the process easy and accessible for expats.
With this knowledge at your disposal, you are well-equipped to select the ideal private health insurance and embark on your Spanish adventure with peace of mind, allowing you to savor the tapas, culture, and sunshine to the fullest.

This is excellent information! We will be moving to Spain in 2025 so my Filipina can get her citizenship. I'm a US citizen and am tired of the endless visa applications for Filipinos. We could go to the US for her green card, but I don't want to live there, so, we will come to Spain. Thank you for all of the information you are providing viewers like us. It's extremely helpful and there is a lot to prepare for. I've lived abroad most of my adult life, but she never has. So the more information we can get, the easier it will be to adjust. We will be in touch. :)

I just came across your YouTube content and thank you for sharing. I’ve been wanting to live in Spain for a long time and I’m getting ready to sell my property and business in the United States in the next couple of years. Anyways, I was hoping to find info to move to Sitges Spain..
Also, I will keep on checking out your contents. Thanks again for the videos.

What I have realized is that health insurance is intended for the young and healthy. This is what I have learned and please correct me if I have been misinformed. With
DKV the requirement for health insurance in Spain is satisfied. They advertise coverage to age 99, however, DKV will not pay your medical provider for services beyond
age 75. You would still have to pay out of pocket for services and DKV keeps collecting your premiums. Quite expensive when premium is determined by age. Spain
is OK with this. I see it as blatant extortion to pay for the privilege of residing in Spain. This must be renewed for five years before you can be on the public system.
I am 80 years old and have no pre existing conditions. Karen, correct me please!
