My wife and I stayed at the Intercontinental Moana (island side) about a month ago for 5 days. Amazingly beautiful. We snorkeled every day and loved the location. It was on a penisula directly across from Matira beach. It allowed access to the local restaurants without having to take a water taxi in from the motu islands. Cheaper bungalows over the water but still super amazing. We rented bikes and rode around the whole island in about 4 hours. Kayaked to the reef, snorkeled in the "Aquarium" and saw tons of fish and sting/bat rays. Heaven on earth.

Le Bora Bora is one of the more “affordable” relatively for an overwater bungalow resort, you should try it next time
