What are the dark sides of living in Britain? If you’re contemplating moving to the UK to escape poverty, for education, for career advancement, or to raise a family, think twice before you hop on the train. There are negative sides of Britain that you need to consider closely. When people arrive in Britain in search of a greener pasture, they’re rudely shocked by those dark sides of living in Britain and also to discover that there are worst places to live in Britain. Today, I’m going to show you some of them. They’re actually among the reasons why foreigners who intend to live in Britain don’t stay.
I need to quickly tell you this: The listing here represents just my personal opinion about living in the United Kingdom and some might consider it a plus and not a minus.

I am a Nigerian living and working in the UK so I will give my perspective on some points:
1. Cost of Living: Try Switzerland or Scandinavia.
2. Unstable weather: It rains more in NY than London..Yes the UK has more grey days but that's no different to other oceanic regions (including Northern France, Germany, Scandinavia, Russia, etc). Also the UK winter are not as cold and summers are not as unbearable.

3. Food: You do NOT have to eat British foods.
4. Make friends: It takes a bit of time but you can get one.
Overall I have loved my experience in the UK and would not trade it for anything else. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

It's not too bad at all - Europe on the doorstep, food is quite cheap compared to other countries, interest rates have been low for years, most people are helpful and polite.
I suppose all countries have their problems but looking at the big picture I don't think British life is bad at all - think positive.

"The weather is unstable!" People who've come here from places which are vulnerable to tropical cyclones must be laughing out loud at this statement.

English reserve only applies to England. This man is classing the whole of the UK as England. I wonder if he has ever been outside of London.
He forgot to mention that it is so bad that we are over-run with immigrants desperate to live here. They are actually queuing up in Calais.
Every country has its drawbacks and this is a very narrow not very informed commentary.

"Imagine your neighbor not caring how your doing, and not being able to help in an emergency" Every city in the US as well as suburban areas.

Britain is only a small country around 900 miles long, with lots of history and town and cities dating back centuries consider this when yo speak of small homes ! Also we do not have big heads like the Americans who think their country is the only country in the world or the best !

I have lived in the uk for 15 years…i went to uni to study medicine then stayed on and worked there for years. I mainly only have good memories. Maybe I was lucky? But uni experience was good…my training and work as a doctor went very well…my salary was at least good..yes I paid taxes but they were reasonable and you got something in return.
My work collègues and neighbours were super nice and helpful, I lived in a nice cul du sac in a posh area and had bought my house for a reasonable mortgage. I had enough disposable income to live comfortably and save! Again, I could be the exception to the rule but that’s my experience ! I didn’t mind the cost of living, the narrow roads or the small houses (mine was big!)..even food was great as you can easily find your favorite restaurants/food items..etc
There are only two points that I agree on; the terrible weather and the difficulty to make friends. What’s worse than the bad gloomy rainy days is the difficulty to plan your life around the ever changing weather conditions; one day is sunny and gorgeous so you assume the following days will be the same and that summer is here to stay; WRONG!!! It can be windy, rainy and even cold literally the next day!
As for making friends, I have made lots of good relationships but only four friendships, only two of whom were « white British ». Personally, I think the only reason is their personality and it has got nothing to do with racism or discrimination etc.
To summarize, I loved everything about the UK apart from weather. And even though I am an Arab with olive Mediterranean skin, I tan almost everyday now back home in the sun, and this is due to years of sun deprivation 😭😭

Small houses, small doors, small roads and small cars are nice and cozy Politeness too. No dark side in much of what the vídeos says.

Our houses are small but they are made of brick and don’t generally fly off during a tornado

You are right about the dark sides of living in Britain but having migrated and lived here for the last 42 years I have no regrets. To be fair, there are pros and cons in every country, whether developed or underdeveloped. I say this because previously I lived in India and Tanzania.

Having lived in the US and the UK I find the UK much more preferred. What about the positives such as multiculturalism, low racism, healthcare, welfare state, etc which are all better than the US. To say the dark side makes it sound like hell on earth!
Also lack of guns, low murder rate, low rate of police murdering people, low rate of incarcerate innocent people, lack of fat people, no TV adverts every 5mins, etc

That the best you can come up with? Travelled to numerous countries around the world and really it's hard to beat. My favourite is the "unstable" weather - would that be the lack of hurricanes, monsoons, snowstorms and droughts that make it unstable? By the way the cars are small because the roads are small. Just like the rest of Europe where the roads were built when we had horses and carriages. Think I'll stay here thanks.

Been in Britain 20 yrs now from Africa, life is too short to be concerned about things I cannot change such as inequality, racism and even the stigma of just being foreign,
Over the years I have realised that many Britons have now accepted the reality of living with foreigners whilst others are still struggling with it.

As in so many YouTube reports when he says "Britain" he actually means "London".

Being a UK resident all of my life I can fully confirm the information in this video to be absolutely laughable at best!
Yes, we have a small minority who like to binge drink, we even have a totally random weather system…But the other 80% of the ‘views’ mentioned in this ‘informative production’ are clearly based on none-factual research conducted by someone who doesn’t even reside in the United Kingdom!

Im loving the fact that many of the images are from Edinburgh, instead of just London

Just a few points from an Indian -- when you land in Heathrow you can breath freedom/ there is so much talk about racism, but during my short stay in London there was not even an unsavoury incident/ roads in London are narrow, yet at many places the pavements from both sides of a road would narrow the road further to help pedestrians. That tells how the priorities are perfect in the UK/ many would say London is the best place on earth. They are not far wrong. Guess, the Brits have a habit of complaining too much. :)
