The case with Keke and her son is absolutely heartbreaking. Moms drive around with their kids all the time and should never have to worry about being ambushed that way. I hope her 10 year old son receives therapy and makes a full recovery.

Alicia's case sounds much like the grooming that happened to me. I was a lonely only child and spent my early years in a very bad, abusive situation. In 1990, I met a man on a 1-900 chat line. Being in a small South Carolina town, he lured me with promises and I believed it. I stole $ from my mom, who worked graveyard shift, and took a cab to the closest Greyhound bus station, in Florence, SC. I met this man in Columbia, SC and ran away to Hollywood, California with him. I went through more hell with him, slept under a bridge, and am so fortunate that after he abandoned me in California, Covenant House came to my rescue. I made it back home and got intense mental health care to recover. Alicia definitely sounds like a victim of grooming. Sadly, many of these cases don't end up happily. I hope her mother gets answers. 💔

I encourage the parents of teenagers to please monitor your children's internet/cell phone usage. Have monitoring apps. They are young, they don't know the "real" world yet. In my opinion, parents these days give their children too much freedom while on the Internet.
