This video was posted 5 months ago, but I am a full time traveler that is vegan. Depending on the country I have varying degrees of hardship. Sometimes I slip into vegetarian diet due to neccesity to eat a healthy diet rather than just French fries or other fried vegan food. I would be eternally grateful for a post on how you overcome these challenges.

Ha, ha, love the comment "how not to roll around the world with extra rolls". You two are adorable! Great video - a real, everyday issue too. We eat 90% WFPB (whole-food-plant-based) and leave room to try the local specialties. Just starting our nomadic life and fortunately (in Italy at least) there are fruits and veggies readily available. So we are able to cook in majority of the time and not go too crazy when eating out. So far, we've noticed the portion sizes smaller and lots and lots of options on menus. Many veggie options. And of course we are walking and hiking daily.

I would love to see a post about how you eat plant based around the world. I find it challenging when eating out, even here at home, and I live in SF Bay area. It's definitely more challenging for me when traveling. I also deal with negative reactions from people regarding my plant based diet. It's a shame we have to be reluctant to share info about plant based eating. I love eating plant based. It's so healthy and can be so delicious, if you know which restaurants to go to or if you know how to cook. Perhaps if you did a separate video about your challenges and successes with plant based eating, people what had negative viewpoints could just not watch it. I'm curious about which countries and cities are more plant based friendly and how you cook plant based in your air BnBs and house sits. When I cook, I use a lot of spices and sauces to keep things interesting, but I'm not sure how that would work when traveling, since you would probably not use them up in a week or month's stay.

Enjoyed hearing your tips. Finding ways to eat well and stay healthy during long-term travel is definitely a challenge I've struggled with. As you say, this isn't a vacation where you can indulge and then buckle down when you get back home. This is your full-time life so you have to figure out what will work for you. I'm not much of a cook so making my own meals is something I do only on rare occasions. What I've found works well for me is to have just two meals a day...a breakfast with a high fiber muesli or similar with fruit and then a big meal of the day at a restaurant in early afternoon. I try to get as many vegetables as I can with that meal. Later in the day I'll have a fruit snack, like an apple or banana, if I'm feeling hungry, but not another full meal. It helps to keep the calories down and it also saves money. For exercise I always enjoy walking as much as possible everywhere I go. But spending time in Southeast Asia I find it is too hot to walk much unless I get out early or wait until the sun goes down. So I've started staying in AirBnBs or hotels that have a fitness center where I can use a treadmill as an additional means of getting some cardio. I find when I am traveling outside the US I do pretty well with keeping a consistent, reasonable weight, but when I go back to the US I put on the pounds again! Another challenge to work on. Keep up the great content...cheers!

Agree on 5 lb fluctuation, same here! That means I have to weigh daily to rein it in or be more conscious when at upper end. We also enjoy "linners" often when we have a good brekkie & eat out about 3-4pm when we are actually hungry. We always like to try the local specialities, too. Some parts of the world have alot less processed food compared to the US & even eating out consists of lots of fresh produce, dairy & protein. For sure easier to prepare meals in an apt with a kitchen, but we've got it down even if all we have is small hotel fridge. Whatever works!

You got me at plant based! I’ve even doing this for almost 5 years. 😊 I’ve been looking for nomad plant based travelers and here you are! I do it for health only. I;d love for you to do more videos about eating vegan while you travel. We only travel in the US right now and planning my food is such a pain. I need my Vitamix, instant pot and air fryer, how do I do this??1?!! 😂

Would love to hear more about plant based eating around the world. We are gluten free, dairy free, egg free at minimum but also eliminate other items like oil, soy and corn both GMO, etc. I eat mostly plant based. My husband does fairly well but has less willpower. We call it flexitarian. We do our best. Would like to know how you make it work in different regions of the world.

I'd like to learn more about your plant-based eating as you travel. I'm a plant-based eater and I travel quite a bit. Sometimes it's a struggle but I can always find something on the menu I can eat! Its it's kind of like a treasure hunt looking for that restaurant that has the great plant based dishes!

Great topic, cause it is hard to create habits when you are always on the move. Being birders we at least are motivated to walk almost every day, and in general we eat pretty well. But any time we visit the US we fall into bad "celebratory" habits and always end up putting on a few pounds. As long as we minimize the sugar we tend to lose weight while we travel. We are definitely not foodies and usually treat food as fuel, not entertainment, but love eating whatever is available locally. (Except maybe not the peanut butter and jelly licorice from your last video, that was too funny!) 🤣

Intermittent Fasting. helps me on travel... by keeping a tight eating window it makes it harder to over-indulge

I like hearing in general about how you eat. I’m vegan, but I don’t think you need to talk specifically about vegan eating. Non-vegans get unreasonably upset about vegan content. Vegans will get unreasonably upset about you not being vegan enough. The next time we cross paths in real life, I’d love to have a conversation about plant based eating while traveling.

We like protein shakes and working out with weights (we being me and 20 and 17 year olds) which can be hard if we move quickly. Spending 3 months in Europe right now and have a leased car so that is easier because we buy weights and take with us. But not finding most of our places have a blender which is a pain. Anyway for a month or more, we buy weights and sometimes a blender -- it's a good investment in health:) It gets harder when we are moving faster or by air though. I would like to hear about your weight loss program from a few years ago. I need a boost!

Great tips! I try so hard to stay away from sugar. It’s hard but the longer I go without, the easier it gets. Oh course the donut is going to taste good so I tell myself I don’t have to try it. I also eat vegetarian ( leaning toward vegan)

Yes, please do NOT talk about plant based.

Don't make eating wonderful foods all over the world as your main hobby. There are other things to focus on. Yeah, I do get eating, eating, eating is fun. Got it, been there. When I was 30, OK. But as I got to 50, 60 I had to reduce food intake to not just "stay healthy" but to get healthier. By body is degrading due to age so "maintaining" is not good enough for me. We lose muscle as we age so if you're just looking at weight you're kidding yourself. Trading muscle for fat. Working out has to be increased each month for as many years as you can.

You have to be realistic about your actual weight, muscle time. Know so many people delusional about their health.

But yeah, I get this is just me.

I am not plant-based so if every episode was focused on being plant-based I would lose interest in the channel. HOWEVER, if you wanted to have one episode about eating plant-based around the world, then those who wanted to address that particularly could watch, other could skip. I watch for the long-term travel content not the plant-based content.
