My cat Lulu came running when she heard the meows. I’m pretty sure they just had a full conversation about us and our obsessions with mlm nonsense.

Couldn’t agree more with the first story! So sickening that they think it’s okay to build a relationship just to eventually tell them it was fake all along! How many people fall for that? So sad.

Hannah: "Zeke! The people love you!"

Zeke: I must serenade them. ❤

The first story was my submission! Thank you for using it 😊 I totally agree, nowadays your guard just has to be up when people slide into your DMs being overly nice and wanting to “get to know you.”

I was in Mary Kay. When you call before the party (I would text), it’s called pre-profiling. You’d ask them a bunch of questions about their skin and makeup interests. The idea was that it would help the party hold.

I’m so happy I’m not in Mary Kay anymore. Lost 9 years of weekends to that scam

Thanks for addressing church situations and chronic illness. I have had friendships ruined in these situations… it’s so sad.

Man that last story about curing MS made me think of a patients wife. Her husband had advancing Parkinsons and was transitioning to end of life. She matter of fact told.me her mlm had the cure for it but the medications I was giving him (pain meds mostly) rendered it inert so that's why it wasn't working. My patient at that point who had been mostly unresponsive did pipe up and told her it wasn't the time for her snake oil 😂😂😂

Thanks Hannah! I appreciate your perspective on "I don't make these to convince people to leave MLMs". I sometimes think about what I could've said when cold-approached by a MLM in person (at a Barnes and Noble oddly enough). I don't know if there's really anything that could be said in 60 seconds that would be able to beat the promises of "you could be a millionaire" and that's what makes it so hard.

I'm a pretty bad pushover and hard to stand up for myself, but I'll say one thing: no one has EVER convinced me to join an MLM. Why? Because I'm not assertive, I hate it and find it embarrassing to reach out to people to come to a "party" etc. Nope. Never ever!

I want to share an observation that may explain why so many teachers get sucked into MLMs. In the teaching profession, it is a very common and normalized practice to spend your own money to do your job -often a great deal of money. Teachers almost always spend their own time on evenings, weekends, and holidays (uncompensated) on a variety of things that benefit their students and school. It isn’t a requirement of employment but unfortunately it is necessary and often expected. Teachers do get paid a salary and these common practices do not in any way compare to the cultish toxicity of an MLM, but you can see how teachers can be more easily swayed into MLMs as the profession has already normalized spending your own money and uncompensated time on your career.

Oh partylite is still around. The headquarters are about 2 miles from my house. So cringe.

I am 73 years old. I went to college, I was a nurse, I was in the Army myself. I was a military spouse for 20 years, I have been married for 48 years and associated with high ranking military families. My husband is a retired decorated officer. How did I avoid these things all these years and how is it that I am just now learning about MLMs ??🤯😵🤯😵🤯

the sad thing about binge tv culture is that we don't do weekly tv watching get togethers anymore. when I was in my 20s we had standing weekly dates for Project Runway at one friend's house and for Desperate Housewives at mine

I can vouch for the accuracy of your first story (the Monat friendship). I fell for this scam not once but twice! Not with Monat, but 2 other MLMs- Pampered Chef and Rodan & Fields. And I’m a lot older than the younger sister in this tale. Both times I thought these women (who I already knew) were being friendly. But it’s all just a sales ploy. Now I decline any and all “parties”.

As i understand it, Partylite has shifted recently (2019 i think?) away from a party model to affiliate style e-sales. I don't know if there are still ranks, but it was a huge surprise to their consultants and a lot of leaders took their downlines to other mlms when it came clear that the pay structure wasn't nearly as lucrative

Just wanted to say that I haven't been able to watch your videos the past few days because our cat Wolfe escaped his outdoor enclosure and was missing for 4 days (its been 34 degrees Celsius here is West Australia and the tiger snakes are out in full force so we were sure he wasn't coming home) so seeing and hearing Cooper & Zeke was just too hard. BUT he turned up at 5am this morning so I've been binge watching your videos and hearing those little mews in the background is making my heart so happy.

Thank you for another great video, and I'm so excited to be a channel member!

About the last story, I was in a MLM company few months ago and they gave us "dialogues" for recruiting or selling products. One of them for recruiting was: If they(the people that are about to get recruited) struggle financially right now, talk to them about the "job opportunity" (they meant MLM [rolling my eyes] ) and in case they refuse and complain about their income in the future, TELL THEM "I GAVE YOU THE OPPORTUNITY, YOU CHOSE NOT TO ACCEPT

Oh my goodness!!! This video just made me realize that a certain person is not really my friend. We met through a FB group for parents with children with Cerebral Palsy. We had things in common we both had adopted and had a child with a disability. Weve been FB "friends" for about two years. I unfriended her several months ago and she hasnt even noticed. I knew she was part of Monet and pretty high up but always had refused her recruiting tactic. I stayed connected to her because of the stuff we had in common.
Well I havent heard a thing from her in the 3 months since I unfriended her. I can now see that she was definitely playing the long game with me by our interractions. 😢😢
