The timing of the first variation is interesting and the way I perceive it is as it 8 count figure. Playing with switching the timing into ;12 step step, 34 triple step, 56 triple step, 78 step step. Another thing that I would highlight would be the leads movement on counts 5 and 6 being essential to facilitate that change of places smoothly.
