In this remarkable video, we witness the intelligence of an elephant in action. This wild elephant wants to cross the road, but there's a fence in the way.
With great caution, it uses its foot to test if the fence is electric. After a few careful touches, it confirms its suspicion. There’s indeed electricity running through the fence, so it can't just simply walk through it.
So, what does the elephant do? It comes up with a clever solution. It gently nudges the pole holding the fence. But on his first try the pole resists and jumps back up. He looks around not knowing what to do next, as he picks up a tree branch and throws it against the pole. Rather unsuccessfully. So, the elephant just goes back to his original plan and pushes it flat on the ground, taking the electric fence down with it.
With the obstacle now safely out of the way, it crosses the road. What an impressive display of the elephant's intelligence!
