The man you knew, the story you didn’t. Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story - Only in Theaters September 21 and September 25. Tickets Now Available #ChristopherReeveStory

The story of Christopher Reeve is an astonishing rise from unknown actor to iconic movie star, and his definitive portrayal of Clark Kent/Superman set the benchmark for the superhero cinematic universes that dominate cinema today. Reeve portrayed the Man of Steel in four Superman films and played dozens of other roles that displayed his talent and range as an actor, before being injured in a near-fatal horse-riding accident in 1995 that left him paralyzed from the neck down.

After becoming a quadriplegic, he became a charismatic leader and activist in the quest to find a cure for spinal cord injuries, as well as a passionate advocate for disability rights and care - all while continuing his career in cinema in front of and behind the camera and dedicating himself to his beloved family.

From the directors of McQueen, Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, this film includes never-before-seen intimate home movies and an extraordinary trove of personal archive material, as well as the first extended interviews ever filmed with Reeve’s three children about their father, and interviews with the A-list Hollywood actors who were Reeve’s colleagues and friends. The film is a moving and vivid cinematic telling of Reeve’s remarkable story.

Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story is produced by Passion Pictures (Searching For Sugar Man, The Territory) and Misfits Entertainment (McQueen, Rising Phoenix).

New York-based production studio Words + Pictures financed and also produced the film. Words+Pictures, founded in 2021 by Connor Schell, is led by the creators and producers of the 30 for 30 series, the Emmy Award-winning The Last Dance, and the 2017 Oscar-winning O.J.: Made in America. The film is a presentation of DC Studios, HBO Documentary Films, CNN Films and Words+Pictures.

I remember getting drunk, having a good cry, and blasting the Superman theme from my balcony the day Christopher Reeve passed away. It felt like I lost a friend.

I'm a 49 year old bear of a man and this put tears in my eyes. People need to know just how much hope and inspiration this man brought to the world.

My dad had an accident in the pool (a simple dive jump) causing him exact paralysis as Christopher Reeves. It happened around the same time too. And when Christopher Reeves died, my dad died not long after. So everytime I see Christopher Reeves, I am always reminded of my dad. They are both Supermans in my eyes.

I remember reading an interview with Christopher Reeve where he talked about being down and depressed in the early days of his injury, until Robin Williams walked into his hospital room, pointed at Reeve's tracheostomy tube and said "Nice tie." He said he immediately started laughing and knew that things could be OK. So sad that they're both gone. Can't wait to watch this.

Literally 2 weeks before he passed, I got to hear him give a speech in NJ. As luck would have it, I got the chance to ask him a question. I asked, “when you regain your ability to walk, what’s the first thing you’re going to do?” He laughed and said, “well, I hope I don’t fall down….but if I do, I’m getting right back up.”

The one and only Superman in and out of costume.

I'm a 45yr old red blooded man fighting tears remembering an 80s childhood dealing with serious heart issues and the inspiration this man's portrayal of the character gave me, to fight and bear all adversity with grace- and gain my health. Then to see him as just a man, brought lower than I'd ever been and STILL fight?- If your hero kicks or tosses a ball, aim higher. Thanks, Reeve family, for sharing him with us.

Born an actor, lived a hero, died a legend.
He'll never know how many people he's inspired.

"Superman The Movie" was my Star Wars. I saw it in the theater twice, which may not sound like much, but it was unheard of in my family. We rarely went to the movies and to pay twice for the same movie was highly unusual. While other kids were going crazy over Star Wars, I was going crazy over Superman and Christopher Reeve. I collected the cards, fast food glasses, books, and magazines and I drew pictures of Christopher Reeve. I waited patiently for the tv broadcast and recorded it on VHS, watching the tape over and over until it was worn out. For my 50th birthday, my wife rented a theater and had them show Superman: The Movie. It still moves me and gives me chills to this day.

One of the moments that always gets to me is in the first Superman he has his Clark Kent glasses on and Lois walks away, and he takes his glasses off, wanting to proudly show who he really is, but he then realizes he must keep his secret. The way he carries himself there, his presence along with the subtle John Williams theme during that scene never fails to send chills down my spine. All-time favorite superhero film for me. Christopher Reeve was the best and it was beyond tragic he had that accident. I still watch the entire film series regularly.

Two great men and friends who found peace in struggle, one amazing wife and family that stood by him through his winters and summers, and a tremendous legacy created by the act of not giving up hope.

Superhuman and in turn, simply human. Bless you sir and thank you for teaching us to be super! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Christopher Reeve had the strength of Superman and lived life to the the full. He was my hero in childhood and a inspiration in adulthood, and his appearance in the show Smallville was magical. The Man of Steel.

As a 1982 baby, my earliest memories was losing my mind when Christopher Reeve's Superman movies came on TV in the late 80s. I absolutely loved those films. I've seen Superman 2 the most out of all of them and my child self loved the 4th one the most despite years later finding out it had a poor reception. Christopher Reeve no matter what film he was in, always was Superman to me and he will continue to be until it's my time.

I am 48 years old. And I can remember exactly how I felt watching Superman as a kid and I really believed in Superman. I wasn't aware of all that he done after his accident but after watching this trailer makes me realize that The little kid in me was absolutely right this man was an actual superhero! I'm not going to lie i'm a grown man and this trailer has me crying. I still watch superhero movies but I have to say this is one of those real life superhero movies the world needs to see.
