LISA PATHFINDER - The beating heart

It is only weeks until the launch of LISA Pathfinder in the autumn. Now, the scientific payload is united with the spacecraft and prepared for launch. Follow us into a clean room at the space test centre of IABG in Ottobrunn, Germany, where LISA Pathfinder becomes a real satellite.

LPF will test novel technologies in space whose function and performance cannot be tested on the ground at all or only in a limited fashion. LPF will pave the way for the gravitational-wave observatory eLISA. eLISA (evolved Laser Interferometer Space Antenna) is scheduled for launch in 2034 and will measure gravitational waves in space.
