I like how he asked the question on the controversy without trying to make Doug look stupid or villainous or try to discredit what the site was before the curtain was pulled.

Korey is seriously one hell of an interviewer. I know he has said in the past that he hates it but dude. He's really really good at it.

Doug ended up being blinded by ambition and enthusiasm. He was so passionate about his work that he didn't realize he was hurting people to make it happen. While he didn't do anything wrong per se, he allowed the actual wrong doers to slip by under his nose because he was so caught up in his own world. I will say that he was greatly humbled by the situation and seems like a genuinely good guy now that he is speaking more openly after retreating for a while.

While Doug isn't outright saying sorry, he's still clearly humbled by the fact that getting too ambitious blew up in his face and acknowledging it now. That helps.

Channel Awesome has left a bad taste in my mouth for some time now, but I do really appreciate Doug’s candor here. It isn’t perfect, I’d prefer it to go deeper, but though he’s made some very dunderheaded mistakes he doesn’t seem like a bad person and he has been resourceful about movies before. So I’ll give him that.

All things considered, I think Korey handled asking this well, and Doug answered it well.

Even though he probably can’t legally comment on it, it’s good that he didn’t outright say anything because anything he might say could be misinterpreted and cause more controversy.

Doug isn't perfect but I must give him a LOT of credit for trying different things than playing it safe. I'm sure we all want to dream big before we realized a reality check. Comparing him to other YouTubers currently, he is nowhere near the worst. Naive, but ambitious. And can take criticism well since, you know, that's his job.

Take notes Linkara.

A lot of people are misunderstanding why he isnt flat out saying sorry.

Its been a certain time now that its gotten too little too late for that. Apologizing now would only add fuel to the fire. What Doug is doing here is actually professional. He is admitting to fault, but keeping in mind that they have to move forward from it. Its clear to me that he regrets it, but its also clear that if he says too much, he would stoke up the controversy again and that could easily blow up in their face.

So I think he handled it well, he explained it in a manner that is understandable and you saw their possition in the matter.

I cant speak for everything of course, but im pretty sure of one thing. That he has learned and is a much better person now because of it.

Unlike some other creators who is taking everything as an attack against them *cough* Linkara *cough*

Hard to talk bad about your ceo when he owns your rights and probably a forced NDL

Even though I'm not really into Doug anymore, it was clear the issue was more the managements fault, and everyone else on the site just wanted to get their grievances out

He's not there yet, but I'm down for a Doug Walker redemption arc.

It's nice to see that he does acknowledge the mistakes he's made.
I do think it's impacted his content for the better in recent times.

The problem with channel awesome was that there were too many people and 90% of the audience only watched Doug

Korey bringing in the big guns here, Doug handled it gracefully tho

It's less transparent than I would like but I get it, Doug probably still has to worry about legal repercussions and the impact on his company if he says the wrong things. I think the evidence suggests A. Channel Awesome definitely made a number of mistakes, some big, some small, and B. there were a lot of big egos involved, including a lot of the content creators that added to the #changethechannel document. I mean, look at the repeat shade Linkara has thrown towards Oney from OneyPlays for doing fanboy imitations of him or his critique of Doug's twitch audience amounts. That doesn't mean Doug is cleared of any responsibility of what happened, but I think he definitely seems more self-aware, sincere, and humble since the document dropped. I say major props to Doug. Personally, I think my favorite content creator to come out of Channel Awesome is Lindsay Ellis, but Doug is definitely growing and seems like a greater guy than he used to be. Not perfect but I'm glad he's still doing what makes him happy.

I've noticed some people have started to defend Doug and stopped attacking him like they did. I'm glad this is happening. Doug made mistakes by trusting the wrong guy and being blinded by his passion and ambition. People have attacked him mostly because he's the face of CA so he took most of the fire in the face. He made mistakes, definitely, but he's no monster. And I'm glad people start to notice that and stop treating him like an evil bastard or something like that.

Lindsay Ellis is an example of the risks of hiring people who are clever content creators, but also highly strung, who was never going to play a walk on part in the CA universe.

Doug is a very talented guy who is great at making comedy and many other things, but not so great at managing large numbers of people, particularly high-strung artistic people, which is ultimately why so much went wrong with CA at the time...

T'Challa said in civil war "two people in a room can do more than one hundred". His father responds with "unless you need to move a piano". There are times you need many and there are times you need very few. As a fan of Critic, I'm sure he learned that from experience.
