Movie Magic Scheduling - Script Import

This video shows you how to import a script into Movie Magic Scheduling 5. Most of the methods demonstrated in this video will work in version 4 also.

Ok guys so i just found the solution to this on  the Final Draft site. Now We have to make sure that the scenes in our script, each start with a Scene Heading Element and that we have added scene numbers to our script first.

To add Scene Numbers: Go to Production > Scene Numbers > Check Number/Renumber, select Scene Heading for the Element, then click Ok. Make sure you save the file after doing this.

I did the above in my Final Draft 10 and it imported. The same holds true for Final Draft 8 and 9. Final Draft 6 and 7 users need to export the script to the MMS format.

I'm on a Mac and have the latest version of MM Scheduling and latest version of Final Draft. When I import my FDX file, I just get blank sheets. No matter what board I navigate in.

You can import just a script without using tagger and it will still create breakdown sheets that have the basic scene information and cast members. But to get the full benefits of importing various elements such as props, you would need to use tagger.

I have celtx, is it compatible in MM scheduling to import celtx scripts ???

I thought I had run into the same problem, but it was just a matter of selecting from the Navigate By drop down menu. The default was Active Board which seems to have hidden everything since all strips were in the boneyard. Switching to Sheet instead brought up a lot of blank sheets, but also all the others. Hope that helps.

I can't import a FInal Draft .fdx file. Any reason why?

The big trick is that when you import everything it seems like it didn't work - but you have to go to your BONEYARD. All the strips are there waiting for you.

Have you tried opening it from the Scheduling application? Meaning have the application open and go to File>Open and select the file? Beyond that you should contact support because something may have become corrupt with the file.

This may have to do with how the script is formatted. You can contact support to see if they can help you, but it may be better to contact Final Draft to see what might be wrong.

I have Movie Magic Scheduling 5. I tried importing a .fdx file, following the exact directions in the video. However, I tried clicking through the pages and every single one was blank, as if I had never imported anything. Is there something else I can try to import the schedule?

I just called tech support at EP and am told that the script requires to be TAGGED using TAGGER, a software program before the script is imported into moviemagic to create breakdown sheets. Can you please confirm this? thanks! babu subramaniam

Hello, If i do not have a final draft on my computer, but someone is sending me the script as .sex file can i still import to MM schedualing? or do i need the program on my computer?

I figured out the import problem on the mac. In the finder, you open the Get Info command for the file and get rid of the .txt extension and replace it with .sex. Then import as ususal.

My script has scene numbers with letters, due to the writer adding in scenes and the director not wanting to renumber. For example scene 6, scene 6a, scene 7...however when i import into MMS, it labels it as scene 6, 7, 8...how do I get it to match the script?

After clicking import a window for confirmation comes. But after clicking yes Navigation/selection window is not open.
