I know this is many years ago, but I’m now just looking at all the settings in this video on the ASP880 and none of the channels make sense to me. Channels 1 & 2 are padded with 1 being almost 0db and the other 18db? What kind of mic uses those settings? Channel 6 is set to 42db with no phantom power, so I’m assuming that’s the Shure Sm7b mic…..how is that possible?….that mic needs a gain level way more than 42db. Then channel 7 and 8 are using about 18db and 28db respectively with phantom power engaged. What kind of condenser mics use such low gain levels? I have the ASP880 and I’ve tried running condenser mics through it and I can’t go lower than 42db for decent gain levels. Condenser mics I have are Lauten Audio Atlantis, Miktek mk300, akg p420 to name a few. And forget dynamic mics…..I have an EV RE20 and I have to use a cloud lifter to get semi-decent gain b/w 42-54db of gain. Am I missing something?

Man....Those drums need help. Not sure if it's the mix or the mics. Maybe it just needs some room mics?

Sigh. The natural dynamics and transients are completely crushed.
How can anyone think they are able to hear what the preamp actually sounds like, trough the processed/downgrinded degradation/distortion mess added (at mastering?)?
