This video is a DIY on how to replace an oil pan gasket on a 3 series BMW. These are known for having the oil pan leak at the rear of the engine. This is a 2008 328i model I'm working on. Should be pretty much the same for model years 2006 to 2010 models.
Harbor Freight Tool Used. Labor time is about 8 hours.

This video is truly helpful to realize the amount of work necessary to remove the oil pan. The video is well illuminated and has some rally good shots. Thank for mother good DYI.

This vid is the best in its class ( n52 oil pan ) by the undercarriage camera angles alone.
Good job mate.

Nice video. The only thing I would've done differently was to tighten the suspension arms at ride height for the sake of the bushings.

I know I'm a little late to the party since the date of this video is 3 years ago. I have a 2009 BMW 328i and have done a lot of work on it myself. However, I do have an oil leak and it's probably the oil pan gasket. Need to change it. Car has 161, 000 miles. Great video..well done and to the point. Question, since there are a lot of parts disassembled, what other items should I replace as preventive maintenance? I already did the engine mounts, new control arms and sway bar. What can you recommend to replace while it's all disassembled?

Wow! Unbelievable amount of work just to replace a gasket... How much does this job typically cost? I bet most people do not go through with this...

Amazing set up ! Trying to stop a small leak that i think may be from a missing bolt, but i see you didnt have 1 in there either . Wher oil pan fits to transmission housing on low side of pan a shortish horizontal bolt . Or is it a support bolt for a bracket of some sort . I hope this is a clear enough explanation, im new to bmw - 525i e60 2008 .
Cheers

One of the best angles for this job I've seen. Only one question, do you have to raise the suspension to ride height when you reassemble the control arms? I've seen some guys mentioning this. Cheers

Very nicely done and explained. Can you please tell how long it took you to complete the job? What would be a reasonable labour time quote from a mechanic? Greatly appreciate your response. Thanks

Great video! Do you know if an AWD model would have any significant differences for the procedure?

Is this process the same of for an AWD BMW 325xi 3.0

?: I have a similar engine support bar. Is there any concern on placing the engine weight on the fenders like you've shown??
Thanks again for making this video. Very helpful! I wish I had the lift in my garage ;)
