We met Tobias in the Teenage Engineering van at Superbooth 2023, and he introduced us to new products in the Field Series, which join the OP1 Field and TX6. We got a look at the CM15 condenser microphone, a super cardioid mic with a 1-inch capsule that has mini XLR output, a line output, and a USB-C output. It is battery powered and can also be charged or run off of phantom power, with all outputs outputting simultaneously. Additionally, the company announced the release of TP7, a multitrack recorder with a rotating drum and built-in microphone, and it can also be used as an audio interface with three analog stereo TRRS, two-way jacks.

The CM15 condenser microphone features a capsule design from American company Peluso, and is accompanied by a little tripod stand which is sold separately. The TP7 multitrack recorder has a battery life of seven hours and can be recharged via USB-C, and can also be used as inputs for multitrack recording and outputs for stem playing. These are recorded as multitrack WAV files and can be outputted through the USB-C connection.

CM15 Price: 1,100 USD

TP7 Price: 1,499 USD

Okay, €1.500, - for a voice recorder? Teenage Engineering is definitely conducting some kinda social experiment to see how far they can go.

The ones who don’t understand how hard is to make such a good user interface will never understand the true value of this product.

can you use the jog-wheel to "move" the sound by hand, kind of DJ scratching style?

9:10 I don't have a single product from TE, nor did I ever touch any of them, yet still I can clearly say what the mission behind all of their products is. They want to make a "vintage workflow" studio that is super mobile. They are deliberately putting limitations on those products to force the users to think outside the box, like everybody in the studio used to do. With a great payoff for the music. Now everything is too safe. They are making all those products fun, yet very classy and desirable to achieve all that. Yet he couldn't say any of those things I'm seeing? Duuude...

Presenting a field recorder without discussion on file format, microphone info, SN ratio. Come on. 😂

Neat little dj setup. 2 recorders, a mic and a mixer. And for only 5396 euro. Fantastic way to navigate component shortage

Looks like it hasn't been "teenage engineering" for at least 25 years!

Does anyone know what Peluso mic capsule they used in the CM-15? They said they announced it, but I don't see it anywhere on their site.

I personally prefer large and chunky equipment at a bargain price. Call me old-fashioned, I can live with it.

Imagine how much that stand must cost if TE thinks it’s too expensive :)

Can it be used as a high end walkman? Can this circular controller be locked in case you want to put it into your pocket and just listen to music or a podcast etc?

So does anyone know if the field devices are done now or if there more Field stuff coming?

TE is perfect example of form over function. If i had more money than i know what to do with. Id love some TE bullshit. 😅

Now that they have these products, I really wish they would release a new OB-4 Magic Radio, with SOME sort of audio output. They have TRS out and USB-C audio as well on these, which would be fantastic to see on the OB-4.

Looks groovy, like AI was asked to render a mashup of a 90s mini disc player with a 2nd gen iPod. He mentioned the top end of the market and the cheaper end. I think the noise might calm down a bit if they started to trickle down their premium product r&d into a mid range price of products.

And there’s approaching 4 grand of gear in that bag. I’d be using a padded one.
