The fact that there was a time when tens of thousands of people were rocking out to this song restores my faith in humanity.

This song always takes me back to the summer of 2013. I'd fucked up my AS Levels and had a cry about it in a park with a friend. Listened to this loudly on the train home. I just remember the feel of the sun on my face and the sense everything was going to be alright. Crazy to think that was almost a decade ago now.

Summer of 1992. Big old house in rural Västra Götaland, Sweden. A hippie community, or rather a circle of friends. KLF, Pixies and Ride on the stereo. Dreaming all kinds of dreams about girls glances and things yet to come. And then this song comes on with the thunder roar and the rain and the smell of moist earth.

Just saw these boys in Paris perform this track live and mates it was BANGING! Better than ever. Good times.
They’re touring now if you can get to see them. I took my 14yr old daughter who was blown away

8:17 of pure perfection, one which every current music student should be made to listen and analyse as part of their course: The structure, the tightness, walls of sound pummelling like tsunami waves and Alan Moulder’s production. 0.42 when the guitars kick and 6:57 when they thrash it to bits. The energy is insane. Robert Smith wasn’t wrong when he said Ride played their guitars like chainsaws!
This single and its b-side, ‘Grasshopper’, blew everything out of the water when released in Feb 92. It was a landmark moment. I certainly played this to death and was on heavy rotation on my Walkman for many years. Listening to it now, it’s still powerful and has stood the test of time and outlasted a lot of the dross that was circulating in the charts back then.
Ride should have followed it up with ‘Cool Your Boots’ as the next single because ‘Twisterella’, no matter how great that was, was completely lost on many fans of their earlier eps. Hindsight…

All these years later this song still affects me on an emotional and visceral level like nothing else. The 90’s was the best music ever and the depth of lyrics unmatched since then. Looking back at how young they were, the musicianship and production are stunning. Going to see them in Berlin in Nov 2022. What a fantastic full circle that will be

As brilliant as the band is, Alan Moulder’s production cannot be overstated. What a song!

Almost 9 minutes long and I can still listen to it over and over again. Not a moment wasted.

1:24 That guitar melody is so richly harmonious, I just wanna cry. It's so post-rockingly gorgeous!

One of the best opening tracks of all time, huge guitar riffs and an immense bass line too.

The ever increasing build of spirals of sound is almost religious. Majestic and exhilarating!!! The Utimate shoegaze track. ❤

Brand new this band and found them by my older male friend who's always been a fiend for this type of music! Always heard him blasting this song and I finally asked him what it was today. I'm really hoping to get a lot more into this band as time goes by. One if the best melody's and lyrics I've heard on a song for a hot minute! 7/3/24!
