President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. conducts a site inspection in the Municipality of Mauban, Quezon Province on July 26, 2024 to assess the impact of Super Typhoon Carina and the enhanced southwest monsoon.
As part of his visit, the President reviews the Flood Control Mitigation Plan of the Municipality — a crucial initiative aimed at shielding the locality from storm surges and protecting the residents living along the bay. The plan is designed to mitigate flooding by providing a natural barrier against storm surges.
He also assesses the Mauban Port, a maritime hub for the local community and nearby regions that facilitates the transportation of goods and passengers, including locals and tourists heading to Cagbalete Island and adjacent municipalities.
The Mauban local government unit (LGU) is seeking support from the national government to complete the Storm Surge Protection or Baywalk Project, as well as to develop the Mauban Port infrastructure. These projects will not only provide enhanced protection against storm surges but also contribute to long-term flood mitigation efforts in the area.
