This tiny gaming PC looks amazing!!! But how does it perform? Geekom Mini G1 Review

But should you buy it? In this review I test its overall gaming performance thoroughly vs an AMD based mini PC (AtomMan G7 Pt) as well as a desktop PC with similar GPU.

What equipment do I use to make my videos?

1800$ for this!? No. Just get the Minisforum UM980 Pro for 550$ + buy 2TB SSD and 32GB RAM for 200$. Then you can also optionally (not necessary as AMD has great iGPU) buy the Oculink Dock and a RX 6700 XT for 500$ and you will still have saved 550$ (or 1050$) AND have a better system with AMD Ryzen, 12GB VRAM and a smaller case.

$1600 for no ability to upgrade and terrible access to the water cooling loop. And just a 4060?

Nope.

You could build a 4080 desktop for $1900. Ridiculously high. I wonder how well these things sell. If you need something portable just buy a gaming laptop, so I don't see how the "small form factor" justifies the price considering you'll still need a monitor for travel. Who's this for?

*1800$ for a non upgradable laptop inside an RGB box*
*TF IS WRONG WITH THEM*

Would love to see a look at the history of generational GPU price:performance over the years. Feels like things have stagnated greatly for the last 4 years or so now.

At this size you start being able to put a 4070 ti super and a 7800x3d undervolted inside a pc. Its not exactly space efficient either but it definetly looks cool.

This really just comes down to if you like the look and find the premium acceptable, obviously this is not the best performance you can get for that price. To me, the price doesn't seem outlandish.

i have a not bad desktop pc (5800x3d/4070ti) and bought a laptop(7535hs/4050) for 800usd (travel n so on) and now usually game on laptop, 90% of the experience with 1/4th of power consumption. If there is no frame gen, lossles scalings solution isnt bad either.

You going to be doing a video on FSR 3 in Cyberpunk 2.13? I just tried it out and it looks terrible and performs worse than FSR 2 for me.

😮No upgradability is one major concern. But also don't want to take chance on a overclocked Raptorlake part especially since that can't be replaced without sending the whole PC in for repair/replacement.

This is a huge no... Its basically a laptop inside a case and has been water cooled... But with a laptop you get a screen, touchpad and keyboard. So whats the point of this thing? You cant upgrade it at all and it costs about as much as a system with a 4080 super/7900xtx in it lmao. Heck you already put a system together for 1500 that stomps it

If this was the same price with a 4070 super level of performance and vram it would have more of a longevity arguement but starting at 8gb vram and non upgradable is a horribly buy for anyone in the know.

This is advertisment. The PC gets super hot and loud, the water cooling solution is insanely bad

Noise levels??? Temps? Specifically m.2 and mobo temps...? Looks real good, even at premium price, but this review feels incomplete.

It may be bigger than those APU mini pcs but considering its got a capable discrete gpu, the size is great. More so considering that it has water cooling!
Better than buying a console for sure. Only problem now in 2024 is Sony's and Nintendo's remaining stubborness and not putting all of their software on the PC even though it makes all the sense to do it.

That thing look cool but anything with 4060 shouldnt be priced over 1k$

Are you going to test the new version of Star Wars Jedi Survivor?

The GPU and CPU on those systems are so unbalanced. Just a quick glance shows that the CPUs never went above about 20% usage in any of the games. Shave $300 off the price, drop down to a Core i5 or similar, and you probably wouldn't change the game performance at all. Also, are the 13900H parts also vulnerable to overvoltage?
