It is asking me to link my google drive to Atlassian where atlassian will be able to view and download my google drive files. Is that even safe?

I just started using Trello and added the Google drive power up today. But I was wondering why I need cards when most of my work is going to be done in a Google Docs? I think pacing the link to the Google doc when creating a new card makes for a better workflow. Maybe I can work in Trello exclusively vs bouncing back and forth between Google Docs and Trello.
