The Dominican Republic simply cannot carry Haiti on it's back. We have our own problems to deal with.

The Haitians situation has gone out of control. We no longer talking about immigration but rather an invasion since many reports indicate we have nearly 4M Haitians across our 32 provinces. This is dangerous for our identity and way of life. I read recently, the government spends DOP22 billions / year in education for the Haitian children, overcrowding our schools and even leaving out many Dominican children. But the biggest spending, DOP30 billion, goes to maternity for the Haitian women which are assisted completely free while Dominican women have to pay out of pocket. This situation has been happening for years until it has overwhelmed hospitals and schools. I believe in immigration, but it needs to be controlled and must be in benefit of the country that requires it. I'm Dominican who came to US legally. Furthermore, I respect and support the laws on the books.

I like how you stayed neutral and just gave the facts, with no sensationalism. I hate how a lot of the international media revolves around painting Dominicans as villains and Haitians as victims when it comes to this topic, reality more often than not is more complex.

I must say though that the fact they seem so fixed about this makes me wonder what their intention behind it is, which appears to be not so good at least for the Dominican people, maybe it is deeper than that or maybe they do it because it sells.

Here there are not only illegal Haitians, there are also Venezuelans, Colombians, Americans, Europeans, etc. When they have children here, at the hospital they receive a birth certificate for foreigners that they take to the embassy of their countries so that their countries recognize their kids as their citizens. haitian dont do that or they cant do it cuz literally they come here without even haitian documents (which is not the dominican republic fault or problem but haitian). The laws are the same for absolutely all foreigners but curiously the only ones who seem to have problems with our laws and always complain are the Haitians.

If you look at historical trends Haitian migrants fluctuated around 3-7% of the Dominican population. Over the last 15 years that has blown up to almost 20%. Now 1/3rd of children born in Dominican Republic are to Haitian mothers. For the last few years the first baby born in the new year has been Haitian. 28% of public school children are Haitian. This trend cant be allowed to keep growing. It has to be controlled eventually.

it would be nice if England, USA and some other countries take at least have of the amount the DR has taken. There is no hospitals, and no seats in schools. They can take at least half of the amount. THANKS

I am uber curious about your family immigration to the US, and why you moved back to the DR. Fingers crossed, that you make a video about it :)

So Venezuelans have the same color and haitians have different color. Racism can only be spelled the same way.

Every single human being, Specifically Latinos/Hispanic, Haitians and Africans have to understand the difference between Human rights and constitutional rights. Viva Quisqueya la Bella.

Sorry about the error in spelling at the beginning: it's immigration not inmigration 😀

To say the DR is having immigration issues is an understatement.

The Dominican Republic is a sovereign country and has laws that need to be enforce and respect. The Dominican Republic is the country that has helped Haiti the most on every aspect of life. The Dominican Republic is a poor country that has limited funds and economy and the United Nations can't expect the Dominican Republic to carry with its own problems plus Haiti problems, no way. Countries like the USA, CANADA, FRANCE, are countries that want the Dominican Republic to take care of Haitians. But let me remind you FRANCE exploited Haiti for decades in cruel slavery, the USA occupied Haiti for 19 years taking advantage of this poor country And Canada just do and support everything the other two do. USA, FRANCE, CANADA Are richer and bigger than The Dominican Republic, if they want to help Haiti then go and get about 2millions Haitians out of the Dominican Republic and give those illegal pleople papers and make them your problem now. DR FOR LIFE 🇩🇴🇩🇴

I was born and raised in Santo Domingo, DR up until the age of 11 years old when my family legally migrated to the U.S. After graduating college and becoming a professional, I started visiting DR every two years. Since 2018, I increased the frequency of my trips to DR to once a year as my extended family, from both my parents, continue to live in DR.

Recently, I purchased an apartment in SDQ which is intended to be used for me and my loved ones. Also, in the future, I see myself living in DR half of the year to avoid the wintertime in the northeast. For these reasons, I was looking through content on YouTube to self-educate about my birth country and I am glad that I discovered your channel.

I do not want to feel like a tourist in my own native land and I am interested in keeping up with the current affairs of the country as I now have an investment property there. I know other Dominican Americans that would like the same. So, I believe your channel will grow with time.

As for the United States’ recent actions of not importing goods from a Dominican company due to alleged mistreatment of Haitian employees, I find it to be very hypocritical. For one, the iPhone is made primarily in China (known for child labor/ abusive working conditions) and I do not see them stop doing business with Apple over China’s current labor practices.

P.S. I am also a proud U.S. citizen and love America. My criticism of the U.S. over this issue should not be misconstrued as anti-American or any other negative notion. Simply exercising my freedom of speech.

Hello, I am American with Haitian descendant this is my opinion to this subject, I love love Haiti and my people I have to tell the truth about this situation I feel that the Dominican government need to reinforce their borders security with Haiti, require a little more to allow a tourist visa more than to pay the regular $250 fees, require more documents because it's really important to know that in every nation there are a lot of people who doesn't like to follows the laws or any rules unless they feel the pressure to do so, The Dominican government have to invest a little more in their borders security instead of hiring people and mistreat those llegal Haitians, send them back home fairly, we are all humans before our culture, ethnicity or nationality Americans or Haitians or Canadians or Venezuelians, we should never allow these meaningless differences divide us so much, things we are able to solve .
When it comes to having a baby in DR they shouldn't allow it unless that person is able to cover the bills and have allowed a visa legally , I understand clearly that DR can't be like USA and allowing medicaid to cover pregnant woman medical bills, I feel we just have to be fair with each other, I don't like the maltreatment inflicted to those Haitians when their are sending them home.
I also have another points 👉

I am half Haitian and half Dominican entirely neutral a lot of Dominican here do not say the whole story.have the Dominicans forgotten Haitians are the one that free their country from slavery and the cruel Spanish colonization? Something to consider if you want be a Dominican patriot and nonsense like DR can’t carry Haiti on its back 2. Did Haitian did not significantly contribute to the economic growth of the Dominican Republic like this video mentioned Haitians work in the construction of Dominican Republic at unfair wages by the way and this projects once complete generate a income with tourist attraction or am I crazy. I love my Dominican such beautiful country with beautiful people I lived Santiago 4 years and went back to Canada but I must say the racism is real the upper class Dominican denied their African ancestry Raphael Trujillo who sanction the murders of Haitian himself was a 25% Haitian now on the other hand having Haitian migrating in large wage is a problem especially that DR is richer but still not a rich country so I understand but the truth the Venezuelan migration is more welcome is caused they not black POINT BLANK.The laws in DR is subjective but everyone turn a blind eye in the major prostitution ring in Dr why? Cause it would affect the dr touristic income

I respect your video, It talks about the immediate realities and I have to agree as it states tangible facts. That being said, I see there are some aspects that have not been touched and maybe it is because you are trying to stay as neutral as possible and stay on the apparent issues. But I had wished you introduced Haiti differently than the typical, repetitive negative media narrative: The poorest country.... I hope you had a different approach there as it already screams selling Haiti in a VERY negative light. The Haiti and DR debate has major historical issues and misunderstanding and also brainwashing ( whitewashing). I heard you said multiple times that people are also coming from Venezuela, Spain and the USA but legally, to me this to me seems more of a colorism issue. The pride I hear when most Dominicans have when speaking of these particular migrants vs the disdain when speaking of Haitian migrants is simply appalling.
The erasure of the blackness in the Dominican Republic is very well apparent. I have spoken to Dominican of darker skin tones and they have spoken about this. My question is this: How can other countries have access to migrate legally in the Dominican Republic with ease ( from my researches) and for People in Haiti it is HIGHLY difficult, also seems to me that Haitians due to the majority being of darker skins are being treated with the most dehumanizing ways, they get beaten, tossed around like animals etc...( several videos circulating online btw). It hurts as someone from Haiti, that travels and seeing this treatment when Haitians have been a vital part of DR identity. I truly believe there is an anti-Haitian movement but I will go deeper it is also an anti-black movement that Dominicans of darker skins are victims of. These Haitians migrating to the DR are unfortunately going there to survive and it also hurts even more when Haiti full of resources can be as developed if not even more in some other aspects due to the capability of Haitians. If only the Haitian leaders would understand this and do whatever it takes for Haitians to not even care to live in the Dominican Republic. Also if the DR leaders want to help with this migration, they can offer a special program to Haitians for temporary asylum, just saying...But I am not refuting the fact that it might be a load as well. I need to highlight when you are speaking about DR it is in the light of Capitalism, countries don't need to have skyscrapers to show they are developed, some can do an artisanal approach which can add much more value. I agree with your video in some ways, I just hope you've touched more on the subject a bit deeper. I am rooting for my Haitian people and hope to see them prosper again and not to deal with humiliations from the DR. I have to say I love my Dominican people and I know a lot of them love their Haitian brothers and sisters. Keep up the good work by the way
