When is free Linux more expensive? When you have an enterprise to run.

Every IT organization is looking for ways to be more efficient. What you may not realize is that pieces of your infrastructure like community Linux are actually making your job more difficult. Red Hat can help.

This video demonstrates how standardizing on Red Hat Enterprise Linux can save your organization money and make you more productive and more efficient.

For single use case and home desktop use, you are more than likely accurate, but this video and the statistics within it are focused on the enterprise usage of linux.

Large coprorations normally use paid support agencies for the software and systems they use. It also alleviates the amount of work and lowers the skill level required for your system administrators and engineers. Also Red Hat based distros are usually the most compliant to the LSB and are approved for use by the US DoD.

This is a great introductory video for VARs and MSPs to use to educate non-technical decision makers on the real issues concerning ROI and TCO.

I used to volunteer at FreeGeek in Portland, OR. I built my first computer there, and my first OS was Linux RedHat. This is like 2002. As much as I rely on MS, I still miss the intuitive nature of the Linux OS. Why, you ask, do I use MS? Because, as a professional musician, I need an OS that will support industry standard music recording & production software. When I can run Digital Performer or Reason on Linux, and I say sucessfully so (with no errors), I will return to Linux. Peace

Free Linux does NOT cost more. I NEVER had to pay for support, cloud storage (ubuntu one) or anything like that. I just burnt it to a usb, installed it myself, then looked up HOW to fix problems I had on forums, not paid support...

This sounds a lot like the logic that Microsoft used against people choosing Red Hat so long ago.

I think is ridiculous that Redhat is trying to attack free software Linux Distributions! What money can do to people... Linux is free and will always be!!! You should target commercial non open platforms like Windows, AIX, HPUX, Solaris, VMware...
